NIPR Delta, Police Command Seek Collaboration on Youth Reorientation and Strategic Communication

 








The Delta State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has expressed its readiness to collaborate with security agencies to promote youth reorientation, good governance, and effective public communication in the state.

The commitment was highlighted during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the NIPR Delta State Chapter to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Delta State Command, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, mnipr, at his office in Asaba on February 10, 2026.

The visit formed part of the Chapter’s ongoing stakeholder engagement efforts aimed at strengthening institutional partnerships and reinforcing the role of professional communication in building public trust, civic responsibility, and social stability across Delta State.

Speaking during the visit, the Chairman of the Delta State Chapter of NIPR, Godfrey C. Osakwe, fnipr, said the delegation was in the Command to formally welcome the Deputy Commissioner to the state and to brief him on the activities and programmes of the Institute. He noted that engaging with Adejobi was important, given his professional background and relevance to the objectives of the Institute.

Osakwe explained that the Institute was seeking sustained collaboration with the Police Command in the areas of ethical communication, good governance advocacy, and community development, stressing that effective communication remains a critical tool in managing public perception, addressing societal challenges, and supporting security agencies in fostering public confidence and cooperation.

In his response, DCP Adejobi identified several social challenges affecting youths in the state, including drug abuse, cultism, cybercrime, prostitution, and other related vices, which he said continue to pose serious threats to peace, security, and sustainable development.

He observed that the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations could play a strategic role in addressing these issues through advocacy, public sensitisation, and other communication-driven initiatives capable of influencing positive behavioural change and reshaping public attitudes.

Adejobi also expressed his willingness to collaborate with the Institute in the areas of strategic management and communication training, aimed at enhancing effective policing and law enforcement in line with international best practices in Delta State and across the country.

He noted that such collaboration would help bridge the gap between the police and the public, while strengthening institutional communication frameworks for improved service delivery.

Members of the NIPR delegation at the visit included the Vice Chairman, Florence Nwabuonwu; Public Relations Officer and Director General of Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Olorogun (Barr) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, JP., Treasurer, Judith Kuejubola; Ex-Officio Member, Joy Ochei; Abel John Gold; and media entrepreneur, Sylvester Asoya.

The NIPR Delta State Chapter reaffirmed its commitment to sustained engagement with relevant stakeholders in promoting responsible communication, youth development, and a safer, more informed society.

PTI Defends Its Reputation Against Misleading Sahara Media Report By Wilson Macaulay Effurun, Delta State July 12 2025 The Management of the prestigious Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, has vehemently refuted a sensational and malicious report published by Sahara Reporters on July 10, 2025, which alleged that students of the foremost oil and gas institution study in “flooded classrooms and snake-infested hostels” despite a ₦39 billion budget. Describing the publication as “baseless, mischievous, and an orchestrated attempt to malign the integrity of the institution,” PTI Management said the report is not only factually inaccurate but also a deliberate attack on the hard-earned reputation and progress of the institution under its current leadership. In a strongly worded statement issued on Friday, the management declared: > “There are absolutely no flooded classrooms or snake-infested hostels within the Institute. These claims are complete fabrications devoid of any evidence or truth.” Management further challenged Sahara Reporters to produce any verifiable photographic or video proof to substantiate its claims. > “If such conditions exist as alleged, Sahara Reporters should have no difficulty presenting concrete evidence.
