Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency: Peresine Calls for Synergy, Rotation Of Power

By: Wilson Macaulay

Niger Delta-born Playwright and Chieftain of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, from Patani LGA of Delta State in Nigeria, Peresine Watchman has expressed his displeasure over what he described as the continued stay of Hon. Nicholas Mutu in the Federal House of Representatives, an elective office that belongs to Bomadi and Patani LGAs, respectively.

Peresine who expressed his deep sadness over this political unbalanced through his verified Twitter account on Thursday, August 20, 2020, called on political Leaders in Izon nation, PDP and Delta State to correct this injustice against Patani LGA in the 2023 elections, stating that the leadership and followership of Patani LGA should place the interest of Patani LGA above personal interest in the 2023 House of Representatives elections.

The statement reads: "I have been following and studying the political scenario of Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives since 1999, but what I have seen and discovered is oppression, injustice, inequality, unbalanced and self-affliction.

"Self-affliction in the sense that Patani LGA people are always the ones who abandon their owns to work for the interest of a man who has been occuping the seat of House of Representatives since 1999 and I have not seen the development he has influenced to Patani and Bomadi LGAs that worth his continued stay on that seat for 24 years, and still planning to go back for the same position, to the detriment of the masses.

"In 2003, Hon. (Alaowei) Tonye Timi, PhD from Patani contested the House of Representatives elections with Hon. Nicholas Mutu on the platform of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, and he won the election with 80% of the total votes but the political bigwigs from Patani LGA connived with outside powers to truncate the victory of Hon. Tonye Timi and gave the party's ticket to Hon. Nicholas Mutu who got only 20% votes in the party primary election as PDP Reps candidate in the general elections.

"All has not been well with Patani LGA politically since this ugly political broad-day robbery was executed; and sadly this has created rooms for outsiders to always decide who becomes what in Patani LGA politics.. "I am sincerely appealing to all Patani LGA political gladiators - great and small to forgive ourselves and one another as regards the House of Representatives imbroglio and injustice that had been done against one another.

"We should unite, synergize and call for the rotation of the Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency House of Representatives seat, instead of giving Hon. Nicholas Mutu undeserved political lifetime license.
"Though politics is a game of interest and number, I appeal to Patani LGA political leaders to place the interest of Patani LGA above their personal interest and support someone from Patani LGA in the 2023 House of Representatives elections. "I wish to remind Hon. Nicholas Mutu of the vow he made in the 'Altar of God' that he would never contest the House of Representatives seat after the 2011 elections, but he would support Rt. Hon. Basil O. Ganagana in the 2015 elections to replace him in the House of Representatives, which he has failed to keep.

"As one of my respected political Leaders in Izon nation, I wish to honestly and humbly advise Hon. Nicholas Mutu not to take the grace and mercy the Almighty God has given unto him for granted, but he should fulfill the vow he made in the 'Altar of God' by supporting Rt. Hon. Basil O. Ganagana in the 2023 House of Representatives elections.

"I wish to also appeal to leaders in Izon nation and political leaders in PDP at the National level and Delta State to correct this injustice and inequality Hon. Nicholas Mutu and his cohorts have been carrying out against the good people of Patani LGA, and I plead with them to stand firm to see that someone from Patani LGA occuppies the seat of Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in 2023.

"However, I am very optimistic that whether Hon. Nicholas Mutu likes it or not, someone from Patani LGA will replace him at the Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency House of Representatives seat in 2023, to the glory of God, and both Bomadi and Patani LGAs will be free from this political cage and start experiencing the dividends of true representatives."

PTI Defends Its Reputation Against Misleading Sahara Media Report By Wilson Macaulay Effurun, Delta State July 12 2025 The Management of the prestigious Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, has vehemently refuted a sensational and malicious report published by Sahara Reporters on July 10, 2025, which alleged that students of the foremost oil and gas institution study in “flooded classrooms and snake-infested hostels” despite a ₦39 billion budget. Describing the publication as “baseless, mischievous, and an orchestrated attempt to malign the integrity of the institution,” PTI Management said the report is not only factually inaccurate but also a deliberate attack on the hard-earned reputation and progress of the institution under its current leadership. In a strongly worded statement issued on Friday, the management declared: > “There are absolutely no flooded classrooms or snake-infested hostels within the Institute. These claims are complete fabrications devoid of any evidence or truth.” Management further challenged Sahara Reporters to produce any verifiable photographic or video proof to substantiate its claims. > “If such conditions exist as alleged, Sahara Reporters should have no difficulty presenting concrete evidence. Until then, their report remains a reckless misrepresentation aimed at misleading the public.” PTI clarified that all its lecture halls, laboratories, workshops, and hostels are structurally sound, properly ventilated, electrically powered, and routinely maintained. The Institute prides itself on maintaining a safe and conducive academic environment for learning, innovation, and professional development in the oil and gas sector. The management in clear terms described the publication as the work of “unscrupulous elements seeking to sow discord and cast aspersions on the steady infrastructural development PTI has recorded in recent years.” As a center of excellence in petroleum training and manpower development, PTI has, under its current administration, seen remarkable transformation in terms of physical infrastructure, digital modernization, and student welfare programs. The Institute continues to attract local and international recognition for its cutting-edge research and high-impact training curriculum. While assuring stakeholders, parents, and the general public of its unwavering commitment to the safety and welfare of its students, the management reiterated its call for responsible journalism and urged media practitioners to verify facts before rushing to publication. “We remain focused on our mandate and will not be distracted by smear campaigns designed to derail our progress.”
