Gov. Okowa Deserves Double NARD Awards ---Watchman

A peace Ambassador,  Poet,and Social  Crusader Comrade Peresine Watchman  yesterday stated that the  Governor of Delta  

 State, His Excellency, Senator (Dr.) Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa deserves the two awards given to him by the  Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) for 'Pioneering implementations of Residency Training in Nigeria' and as 'Ambassador of State Health Tertiary Institution' Awards last week  Thursday.

 Ambassador Peresine Watchman emphasised that :"Beside contributing to the implementation of the Residency Training Act, 2017, and pioneering the implementation of the Residency Training Programme in Nigeria, I also deem it necessary to commend His Excellency Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for his legacy Bill, the National Health Act Insurance Scheme for all Deltans with government paying for pregnant women, elderly and under 5; the completion of rehabilitation works on 63 Secondary Health Care facilities and 110 Primary Health Care facilities, as well as the engagement of 52 standard Private Health Care providers for the scheme.

Speaking further he added : "The administration of the 'Road-Master' also upgraded facilities at the Delta State University Teaching Hospital at Oghara, completion of Asaba Specialist Hospital, building a hospital at Abavo in Ika South and the rehabilitation of several others, which are laudable and commendable achievements of the Governor that he deserves to be given the latest awards in the Health Sector.

 Watchman noted that : "  the Okowa-led administration has also been building and training health personnels; set-up Committee on Maternal and Perinatal Death Surveillance and Review (MPDSR), in line with the directives of the Federal Ministry of Health.

He remarked that: "the  administration has increased in out-patient and in-patient load in all health care facilities in the state; reduced quackery through increased supervision of registered clinics and closure of unregistered facilities, as well as improvement in supervision of private pharmacies and monitoring of nursing and maternity homes.

"So, there is no gain-saying that the latest awards given to him by NARD are well deserved awards, and I joyfully congratulate His Excellency Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, and wish him all the best and more wisdom to pilot the affairs of Delta State to achieve his Stronger Delta Agenda intoto", the statement reads.
