Israel Embassy in Nigeria Set To Raise Innovators, Inventors, Researchers in Nigeria

MAKURDI - The Embassy of the State of Israel in Nigeria has commenced plans for training activities that would raise a generation of innovators, inventors, and researchers in Nigeria.

The Embassy intends to use the platform of the Innovation Fellowship for Aspiring Inventors and Researchers (i-FAIR 2020/21) for the would-be inventors and researchers to transform their ideas into innovative solutions.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Israeli Ambassador to Nigerian, H.E Shimon Ben-Shoshan and made available to Sunday INDEPENDENT in Makurdi on Saturday.

The program is to be carried out by the Israeli Embassy, in collaboration with the Office of the Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osibajo in partnership with Skill-G Nigeria Ltd, Gregory University Uturu, Abia state and DeNovo-Israel Ltd.

theme for the i-FAIR, 'Transforming Ideas into Inventions' and has been created to raise a generation of innovators, inventors, and researchers in Nigeria by offering a platform to transform their ideas into innovative solutions.

The training is expected to be conducted in the area of Agriculture and Food Security; Food Technology; Renewable Energy; Environmental Management; Medical Devices/Simulation; and Social Responsibility.

The Ambassador noted that the training would also offer the potential inventors free access to a modern innovation center in which they can work and develop their ideas.

He also pointed out that as part of measures to ensure that all eligible Nigerians, with the potentials are given the opportunity to participate, the Ambassador advised interested persons to visit: www.ifair-israelnigeria.com and take advantage of the opportunity availed by the Embassy.

According to him, "Nigerian citizens over the age of 21, with an educational qualification from a tertiary institution or higher, and with innovative ideas in the fields of Agriculture and Food Security; Food Technology; Renewable Energy; Environmental Management; Medical Devices/Simulation; and Social Responsibility,  are encouraged to apply.

"Selected candidates will proceed to participate in a 3-day mentoring event at the Innovation Center, Abuja.

"The candidates (that emerge) will take part in a certificate course: 'Introduction to Entrepreneurship', as well as enjoy membership and free access to a modern innovation center in which they can work and develop their ideas.

"In the months to follow, participants will enjoy ongoing guidance and mentoring by a team of experts from Israel and Nigeria. 

"On March 2nd-4th, 2021, the Innovation Center in Abuja will host the grand finale event in which participants will present their prototypes to potential investors. 

"Participants will also be awarded with an opportunity to compete in the “MassChallenge Israel 2021”.

This leading-edge project is the first of its kind and is held in commemoration of 60 years of diplomatic relations and friendship between the State of Israel and the Federal Republic of Nigeria", he stated. End.

The management in clear terms described the publication as the work of “unscrupulous elements seeking to sow discord and cast aspersions on the steady infrastructural development PTI has recorded in recent years.” As a center of excellence in petroleum training and manpower development, PTI has, under its current administration, seen remarkable transformation in terms of physical infrastructure, digital modernization, and student welfare programs. The Institute continues to attract local and international recognition for its cutting-edge research and high-impact training curriculum.
