President Buhari Should Implement South South 7- Point Agenda Now

The leadership of Nigerian   Welders and Fitters Union NIWELFU  has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to expedite action on  the implementation of the 7-Point agenda demanded by the people of the South South  region before the Pesidential visitation team led by Prof. Ibrahim Gambari  in Port Harcourt a fought night ago .

Comrade Chief  Joseph Awala Inone the President of  NIWELFU who spoke in Newland Hotel and Towers  Agbarho Delta State  acknowledged  in his Press statement that the demands of the region red by governor Okowa in his capacity as the Chairman of South South Governors Forum was long overdue. 

The labour boss stressed that by virtue of the endowment of  the Niger Delta region,  he does not  expect any regime to play politics with the development of the Niger Delta.

According to Comrade Chief Awala ,all hands need to be on deck particularly, the Presidency to ensure that programmes that have to do  with youth empowerment and capacity building are taken as priority adding that the Gas Processing Project,  the  Warri ,  Sapele and Koko Ports must be given immediate attention

Chief Awala the NIWELFU President  who pointed out that the FG have failed in living up to the expectation of the people advised the President Buhari led APC government to do everything  posdible within its power to change the narrative of the Niger Delta region which is the life wire of the nation. 

The labour Executive observed during the media interactive session that Nigeria have what it takes to implement the 7-Point demand of the South South people if Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government charged w ith various responsibilities are appropiatately  marshaled to do their jobs in  transparent and diligent manner by Mr  President on whose table ends the bulk. 

Awala noted in his speech that, refusal to do the needful in terms of the development of the Niger Delta will on the long run produce a boomerang effect that will be counter productive to the well being of Nigeria at large. 

He remarked with emphasis that the next level agenda of president Buhri would end in fiasco if the 7-Piint demand of the South South is sacrificed on the altar of political brogadacio .

  Speaking further he added: " l consider it a disservice by the Nigerian State to allow the Niger Delta region to rot and degenerate to the extent we found ourselves today. "

He lamented in his assertions  that oil producing regions in advanced democracies can be compared to heaven on earth but sadly the case of Niger Delta in Nigeria  is a direct contradiction which should  call for concern by any responsible government whose primary function remains the welfare of her citizens. 

The labour boss who further berated the nonchalant attitude of the FG towards the developmental effort of  the Niger  Delta region posited that 

there is no way Nigeria can have peace unless the Niger Delta which is the economic mainstay is property remediated to mitigate the dangers which lies ahead.     

                                                                       Other Executives of NIWELFU who also spoke explained that what Comradeship Chief Awala the group president said is fundamental to the people of the Niger Delta because the 7 point agenda is a core course that must be done.
