By – Wilson Macaulay

The Peace, Development, Security and Humanitarian Rights Association of Niger Deltans has called for a cease fire and dialogue between Emede and Igbide Communities in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State which has been locked in a communal crisis that has claimed lives and properties that cannot be quantified.

The Group President, Comrade Mike J.K. Tiemo emphasized that the call became paramount and imperative for the overall interest of all Isoko nationalities in particular and the Niger Delta in general for us not to derail from the ongoing Niger Delta agitation for the growth and development of the region.

The Humanitarian activist remarked that the God of creation is not an author of confusion, controversies and destruction of lives and properties but of harmony and concord.

According to Comrade Mike Tiemo, this is an era of unification to collectively invite foreign investors to such lands for the interest of all parties instead of creating internal wrangling and communal crises that is claiming the lives of people and damaging properties in an unimaginable dimension to the detriment of the people economy of the lands.

Comrade Ohwahwa Lucky Ovigwe, Comrade Sunny Anireto and others who also spoke asserted that the Leaders of Emede and Igbide should see themselves as one people created by one God to shun  all forms of guidance and use the instruments of their good offices in conjunction with other peace bodies to lay the matter to rest without any other drastic actions that will either side to count losses .

The duo maintained that the war had no positive impact on both communities and so they appealed for an immediate round table dialogue to proffer alternative measures or solutions to the protracted imbroglio.

Speaking further, the group called on the warring communities to give peace a chance and embrace the ongoing irreversible developmental SMART Agenda of prosperity for all Deltans of His Excellency Senator Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa the Executive Governor of Delta State so that they can achieve more rapid progress   in that vicinity as the Government and the good people of Delta State continue to enjoy the Okowa’s vision of a stronger Delta.

The group in summation called on all traditional rulers, religious leaders and other sister peace groups to join hands with the State Governor to resolve disputes in any area where there is any in Delta State since our amiable Governor cannot do it all.

PTI Defends Its Reputation Against Misleading Sahara Media Report By Wilson Macaulay Effurun, Delta State July 12 2025 The Management of the prestigious Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, has vehemently refuted a sensational and malicious report published by Sahara Reporters on July 10, 2025, which alleged that students of the foremost oil and gas institution study in “flooded classrooms and snake-infested hostels” despite a ₦39 billion budget. Describing the publication as “baseless, mischievous, and an orchestrated attempt to malign the integrity of the institution,” PTI Management said the report is not only factually inaccurate but also a deliberate attack on the hard-earned reputation and progress of the institution under its current leadership. In a strongly worded statement issued on Friday, the management declared: > “There are absolutely no flooded classrooms or snake-infested hostels within the Institute. These claims are complete fabrications devoid of any evidence or truth.” Management further challenged Sahara Reporters to produce any verifiable photographic or video proof to substantiate its claims. > “If such conditions exist as alleged, Sahara Reporters should have no difficulty presenting concrete evidence. Until then, their report remains a reckless misrepresentation aimed at misleading the public.” PTI clarified that all its lecture halls, laboratories, workshops, and hostels are structurally sound, properly ventilated, electrically powered, and routinely maintained. The Institute prides itself on maintaining a safe and conducive academic environment for learning, innovation, and professional development in the oil and gas sector. The management in clear terms described the publication as the work of “unscrupulous elements seeking to sow discord and cast aspersions on the steady infrastructural development PTI has recorded in recent years.” As a center of excellence in petroleum training and manpower development, PTI has, under its current administration, seen remarkable transformation in terms of physical infrastructure, digital modernization, and student welfare programs. The Institute continues to attract local and international recognition for its cutting-edge research and high-impact training curriculum. While assuring stakeholders, parents, and the general public of its unwavering commitment to the safety and welfare of its students, the management reiterated its call for responsible journalism and urged media practitioners to verify facts before rushing to publication. “We remain focused on our mandate and will not be distracted by smear campaigns designed to derail our progress.”
