Disunity And Bad Leadership. The problem Bobo

 By Wilson Macaulay

Populist High Chief Wellington Bobo, thee Oroupawei of Gbaramatu Kingdom has once again identified disunity and bad leadership as the bane of underdeveloped of the Niger Delta region.    The elder statesman who made these assertion in Warri Delta while speaking to a group of selected Journalist noted that the menace of the common man in the Niger Delta can only be addressed or resolved through the collective struggle of the people aimed at bringing up credible leaders who can effectively present the demands of the Niger  Delta people.      Chief Wellington Bobo, the Populist High Chief of Gbaramatu kingdom strongly suggested that it is time to flush out all the leaders  that have constituted themselves into  cogs in the wheel of progress in the region. He insisted that the people of the Niger Delta, particularly the leaders should sit tight and consciously  do what is right for everyone in the larger society to benefit.  The erudite justice of peace lamented that the various agencies of government charged with the responsibilities to check the excesses  of the oil majors, to better the lot of the Niger Delta people like the NNPC,DPR,NOSDRA,NCDMB,NDDC,MNDA e.t.c are not willing to perform their statutory duties accordingly , as they sacrifice the destiny of the Niger Delta people on the altar of   clannish interest. He posited   that Niger Delta  leaders  should understand that the whole world  is watching  their   bad way of paying their citizens  in bad coins. According to High Populist Chief Bobo, PMB should have a kind heart and listening ear to listen to the plight and the cry of the masses, so that his administration will not go down in history like that of Donald Trump of America who exited  office without honor like  a bull in  a Chinese supermarket.    Bobo, the good governance  advocate declared that every office holder  saddled with one responsibility or the other should know at the back of their minds, that God gave them the opportunity to be of help to humanity.     Speaking further, he warned that any attempt to derail the welfare  of the   people will not be acceptable by the masses and even God Almighty scorn at the mien of such leaders.  He added  that the social and economics disparity  between the leaders and the masses is one of  the root causes of the cataclysm, chaos and anarchy in the Niger Delta. The virtually piqued  Chief Bobo argued that Nigeria have enough resources and potential to engage our youths in mechanized Agriculture which is a good take off point for any nation which truly desire industrialization. The populist Oroupawei  advised leaders in power to try their best to diffuse the keg of gun power on which the country is sitting  at present. The Elder statesman emphasized the need for the leaders of  different ethnic  nationalities of the Niger Delta to remember that when the  rain is going to fall, it will fall on every mans roof, hence there is folly in standing aloof to look according to Bob Marley the late king of Reggae     He continued: “In the light of the above,  we all should understand that the problem of the Ijaws is the same as the problem of the Isekiris, the Urhobo, the Isokos, etc. viz-avis because we have one ecosystem, one demography, one topography and one God the maker of all things who put us together in his infinite wisdom his higher and superior to the thoughts of men.       High Populist Chief Bobo maintained that it is necessary for everybody to come together to use every legitimate means possible to vote out our selfish political leaders who are not attracting development to our area in this so called democracy in our country Nigeria.    Still harping  on the need to ensure that we make Nigeria a better place than we met it, chief Bobo said thus: “ The way forward is  progressive democracy which emphasis onward geometric growth and development in all ramification. He reaffirmed that anything  short of this maxim  is a straight sure road to futility as all earlier attempts made  in this atmosphere of distrust have been  canter productive. Chief Bobo quoted professor Lumumba  who asked Nigerian  leaders an instructive question, if they were actually honorable leaders or horrible leaders. He asserted that ,we should always try hard to checklist or mirror our lives with    the Greek  parlance which says that there are three class of people in every        society namely, the idiots, the tribesmen and the citizens.    Breaking it down,  he explained : “The idiots are  people who don’t care about what is going on in their country or society while the tribesmen are people who look at things from the point of view of their tribe, they believe only if you are part of their tribe. When the Greeks talk about tribe they also include religion.”He he pointed out that it is very terrible to have a tribesman as a leader because he will corrupt the rest of his kith and kin. He lamented that a great number of Nigerians are tribesmen hence they trust only people from their tribe a phenomenon which have dealt a fatal blow on our national polity. Chief Bobo in the wisdom of the Greeks advised Niger Delta leaders in particular and Nigerians in general to emulate the third group of people , the citizens who like to do things the right way accordingly. The citizens respect and obey the law, they respect traffic light even if no one is watching, they don’t cheat in examination , they are averse to stealing Government money , they are compassionate and they give to others for their well being. The Elder Statesman averred in his conclusion that Nigerians particularly the Niger Delta leaders  must  take deliberate steps to become  citizens indeed so that project Nigeria will not fail.

PTI Defends Its Reputation Against Misleading Sahara Media Report By Wilson Macaulay Effurun, Delta State July 12 2025 The Management of the prestigious Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, has vehemently refuted a sensational and malicious report published by Sahara Reporters on July 10, 2025, which alleged that students of the foremost oil and gas institution study in “flooded classrooms and snake-infested hostels” despite a ₦39 billion budget. Describing the publication as “baseless, mischievous, and an orchestrated attempt to malign the integrity of the institution,” PTI Management said the report is not only factually inaccurate but also a deliberate attack on the hard-earned reputation and progress of the institution under its current leadership. In a strongly worded statement issued on Friday, the management declared: > “There are absolutely no flooded classrooms or snake-infested hostels within the Institute. These claims are complete fabrications devoid of any evidence or truth.” Management further challenged Sahara Reporters to produce any verifiable photographic or video proof to substantiate its claims. > “If such conditions exist as alleged, Sahara Reporters should have no difficulty presenting concrete evidence. Until then, their report remains a reckless misrepresentation aimed at misleading the public.” PTI clarified that all its lecture halls, laboratories, workshops, and hostels are structurally sound, properly ventilated, electrically powered, and routinely maintained. The Institute prides itself on maintaining a safe and conducive academic environment for learning, innovation, and professional development in the oil and gas sector. The management in clear terms described the publication as the work of “unscrupulous elements seeking to sow discord and cast aspersions on the steady infrastructural development PTI has recorded in recent years.” As a center of excellence in petroleum training and manpower development, PTI has, under its current administration, seen remarkable transformation in terms of physical infrastructure, digital modernization, and student welfare programs. The Institute continues to attract local and international recognition for its cutting-edge research and high-impact training curriculum. While assuring stakeholders, parents, and the general public of its unwavering commitment to the safety and welfare of its students, the management reiterated its call for responsible journalism and urged media practitioners to verify facts before rushing to publication. “We remain focused on our mandate and will not be distracted by smear campaigns designed to derail our progress.”
