 2023: DPV reaffirms commitment to Okowa"s leadership

Delta Political Vanguard (DPV), a political pressure group in the state, on Saturday reaffirned commitment to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa ahead of 2023 general elections, saying "wherever Okowa goes, we go". 


The group made this known at a well-attended new year get-together at Government Field, Boji-Boji, Agbor. 


National Chairman of the group, Chief Michael Diden, said the group had resolved to work in unison with other groups to deliver the next governor of the state. 


He urged all governorship aspirants on Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform to pray harder to enable Governor Okowa and other leaders chose any of them for the 2023 race. 


On his part, Chairman of the party in the state, Chief Kingsley Esiso, thanked the leadership of the DPV for putting up the ceremony. 


Esiso also lauded members of the group for their massive support for the governor since 2015 when he assumed office. 


According to him, because of the successes recorded by our governor, we want a governor that will follow his footsteps in 2023. 


"This is very apt because we want continuity in road construction, in health development, in educational development and human capital development. 


"So, we have all agreed that we need a governor in 2023 that will follow the footsteps of the people," Esiso stated. 


He announced that a mega rally of the party would take place at the Cenotaph, Asaba, on January 22, 2022. 


Welcoming guests to the occasion earlier, Director-General of the group, Mr Ifeanyi Eboigbe, said that the new year get-together was organised to celebrate Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and to restate the group's commitment and loyalty to the governor's political leadership in the state. 


He said that the group was not supporting any governorship aspirant because it was awaiting directives from the governor, reiterating that "anywhere Okowa goes, we go". 


He, however, warned that the group would not support any aspirant that failed to identify with the group. 


The rally was attended by members of the National Assembly, including Victor Nwokolo, Ben Igbakpa and Thomas Ereyitomi. 


Others were Speaker of Delta House of Assembly, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori;  governorship aspirants - Chief David Edevbie, Chief James Augoye, Chief Abel Esievo, Chief Kenneth Gbagi, Chief Ejaife Odebala.

PTI Defends Its Reputation Against Misleading Sahara Media Report By Wilson Macaulay Effurun, Delta State July 12 2025 The Management of the prestigious Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, has vehemently refuted a sensational and malicious report published by Sahara Reporters on July 10, 2025, which alleged that students of the foremost oil and gas institution study in “flooded classrooms and snake-infested hostels” despite a ₦39 billion budget. Describing the publication as “baseless, mischievous, and an orchestrated attempt to malign the integrity of the institution,” PTI Management said the report is not only factually inaccurate but also a deliberate attack on the hard-earned reputation and progress of the institution under its current leadership. In a strongly worded statement issued on Friday, the management declared: > “There are absolutely no flooded classrooms or snake-infested hostels within the Institute. These claims are complete fabrications devoid of any evidence or truth.” Management further challenged Sahara Reporters to produce any verifiable photographic or video proof to substantiate its claims. > “If such conditions exist as alleged, Sahara Reporters should have no difficulty presenting concrete evidence. Until then, their report remains a reckless misrepresentation aimed at misleading the public.” PTI clarified that all its lecture halls, laboratories, workshops, and hostels are structurally sound, properly ventilated, electrically powered, and routinely maintained. The Institute prides itself on maintaining a safe and conducive academic environment for learning, innovation, and professional development in the oil and gas sector. The management in clear terms described the publication as the work of “unscrupulous elements seeking to sow discord and cast aspersions on the steady infrastructural development PTI has recorded in recent years.” As a center of excellence in petroleum training and manpower development, PTI has, under its current administration, seen remarkable transformation in terms of physical infrastructure, digital modernization, and student welfare programs. The Institute continues to attract local and international recognition for its cutting-edge research and high-impact training curriculum.
