 As the debate of who becomes the next  Governor of  Delta State gets hotter, with  2023 drawing  closer , and alot of storm  gathering  across   the political landscape , Engr Messiah Olaye a renowned ljaw born  Environmentalist based in Warri  has  Strongly opined that His Excellency , Senator Dr Arthur lfeanyi Okowa the Executive  Governor of Delta State is at Liberty to choose his successor .



Engr Messiah Olaye  Who made this observation yesterday  in Warri  during a media parley while speaking to a group of selected  senior Journalists  declared  that too many Political stakeholders

have expressed their views forgetting 

to phatom the fact that Governor Okowa having served two tenure  meritorouslly by meeting the demands of Deltans 

is imminently qualified to  choose whoever succeeds him in Dennis Ossadebey House comes  May 29th 2023.


 Engr Messiah Olaye noted in his speech that right from inception ,all the past Governors in Delta State strived  to Produce their successors adding that the one of Governor Okowa should not be different because a man with such technical know-how to drive the   SMART Agenda which culminated into the Stronger Delta Vision should not be dictated to on who becomes his succesesor on the altar of godfatherism.



Engr Messiah Olaye emphasized that nobody should dictate to Governnor Okowa his succesesor or the Senatorial

district the next Governor should emerge from because he is at liberty to

choose whoever he deemed fit to hold forth for him  to take Delta  State to greater heights.



Continuing ,he remarked that the issue 

of a successor is a very serious business, because a bad succesesor can make a missmeat  of the glowing legacies Governnor Okowa is  laboring to build today, stressing that  no reasonable Governor Will  allow somebody to Choose a successor for him .



He canvassed the view that  no one or group of persons  no  matter how highly placed or connected they may be, do not    have the sole prerogative to dictate to any sitting Governor who his successor should be, especially a person like Okowa who is a tested Political General with a very massive Political foot soldiers.



Engr Messiah Olaye who insisted that godfatherism is counter productive in our political history  said,

l don't think Governor  Okowa in his right sense would allow anybody to handpick a successor for him.



He added that Gov Okowa as a man of wisdom  with a good depht of intellectualism should not play to the gallery of sycophants  but he should  rather stand his ground  to do what is

 in the best in nterest  of  the State by

choosing a candidate  who can consolidate on his credible legacies.






Engr Messiah Olaye explained  that the

idea of  somebody trying to impose a successor on Governor Okowa is a joke tàken toó far because his Political wealth of experience spans from the the

grass root to the National level starting from Coucil Chairman to a Member of the State Executive Council before going to Senate and now Governor, adding that   Okowa is a godfather

in his own right .




Hé warned that if Governor Okowa cave in to all these demands coming from

high profile politicians by allowing himself to be armtwisted , browbeated  to take dictated Order on Who becomes his successor, he will live to regret it.


According to Engr Messiah Olaye,

there is need  to allow Governor Okowa

to chop for a candidate Who Will take the reins of Government with an assurance that the Stronger Delta vision Which has Come to Stay Will be implemented  in the new phase of Delta comes  2023.

PTI Defends Its Reputation Against Misleading Sahara Media Report By Wilson Macaulay Effurun, Delta State July 12 2025 The Management of the prestigious Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, has vehemently refuted a sensational and malicious report published by Sahara Reporters on July 10, 2025, which alleged that students of the foremost oil and gas institution study in “flooded classrooms and snake-infested hostels” despite a ₦39 billion budget. Describing the publication as “baseless, mischievous, and an orchestrated attempt to malign the integrity of the institution,” PTI Management said the report is not only factually inaccurate but also a deliberate attack on the hard-earned reputation and progress of the institution under its current leadership.
