 Skills Development: Over 100 Youths Trained, Benefited In Delta- SAFE NGO

Safe Aid Foundation (SAF), a non-governmental and profit organization whose core values is Health and Entrepreneurship has recently in its skills acquisition programmes empowered over one hundred Youths in Delta State, precisely Ughelli South Local Government area. 


The  Executive Director, SAF,  Dr. Martins Oyovwe Kedienhon spoke to our reporter yesterday during this Yuletide in Asaba, Delta State capital as he  commended the  Board of Trustees, and other  volunteers. 


He  recently hosted a one day Youths Development, Skill Acquisition program held  at the Event Hall of the Ughelli Local Government Council Secretariat, Otu-Jeremi Community, Delta State as group during the event dwelt on the  theme: "Redefining the Leadership Context of Youth; Your Mindset and True Direction". 


The guest speaker in that auspicious occasion was  Mrs Christine Ejetavwo Aluyi, Registrar/Secretary to Council,  Delta State College of Education, Warri, the erudite scholar while addressing the  youths enjoined them to utilize every of their  life time opportunity as young people to identify the right circles of friends.


According to SAFE NGO Boss,  the Guest speaker urged the beneficiaries, Youths to  stay focused and be  honest and discipline; show good example of leadership irrespective of where they find themselves. 


While condemning the quest for get-rich-quick syndrome amongst Nigerian Youths, she said: "The  Youths are no more climbing the ladder of success; no more sense of responsibility for societal norms and values; their behaviour, life style and quest for money is alarming and worrisome; cutting corners rather than following the stages of life with so much disdain for education". 


She admonished the youths who were the major participants at the event to promote the need for  self awareness, either  by internal or external towards  discovering their identity and inherent skills;  which according to her,  enhances the key to redefining their true direction for leadership positions."The skill you have today is the tomorrow you are hoping for" she added. 


She thanked the organizers of the program for reaching out to the youths in the rural areas. She noted that,  "the programme was a very  timely. Also, that the situation in the society and country calls for a mindset re-orientation". 


Dr. Martins in his remarks thank the keynote speaker of the day for doing justice to the theme. He also commended the Ughelli South  local Government chairman, Hon. Dr. Richard Kofi for making available the center for the training, and the Council Secretary, Hon. Joseph Okeoghene Ubrurhe for his immense support to the group. 


He said: "I also use this opportunity to commend the Ughelli South Chapter Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria for attending the event. I must not conclude without giving thanks to all our development partners and other social mobilization officers for  SAF NGO".


" We also,  appreciate the various facilitators that trained the youths in various skills such as Shoe making, Hair making/styling,  Graphics design, Fish farming, Online Trading/ Marketing , Web developing, Organic cream, pink lip balm and soap making, Fashion designing, Photography and others".


The event was concluded by a  vote of thanks by Dr. Prince Edesiri Tesi (Ph.D, JP), who in  his speech expressed gratitude to Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for giving the  youths in the state a well- meaningful, ample opportunity towards contributing their quotas for the achievement of stronger Delta agenda of this present  administration.


He said: " We Commend Governor Ifeanyi  Okowa's  human capital and Infrastructural  development initiative in Delta. And most importantly, we commend  his exploits in various youths empowerment programmes in the state  in the areas such as  Steps, Yagep, Rysa, Gest Wesap etc.. "I am a testimonial of the smart agenda of His Excellency's Prosperity For All Deltans.  And am happy we could give back to the society today."

The management in clear terms described the publication as the work of “unscrupulous elements seeking to sow discord and cast aspersions on the steady infrastructural development PTI has recorded in recent years.” As a center of excellence in petroleum training and manpower development, PTI has, under its current administration, seen remarkable transformation in terms of physical infrastructure, digital modernization, and student welfare programs. The Institute continues to attract local and international recognition for its cutting-edge research and high-impact training curriculum.
