Delta 2023: Save Urhobo Youths Condemns UPU Endorsement of Edevbie

 Delta 2023:

Save Urhobo Youths Condemns  UPU

Endorsement of Edevbie

Storm Mbarka

The leadership of Save Urhobo Youths Forum, (SUYF ) a Sociocultural umbrella body of Urhobo Youths which cut  across the twenty four Urhobo kingdoms  has condemned  the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) endorsement  of Olorogun David  Edevbie one of the PDP Governorship aspirants  as the consensus candidate of the Urhobo Nation for the Delta 2023  Governnordhip election .

The Save Urhobo Youths  Forum at the end of a well attended emergency

exco meeting held at Silver Line Hotel

Effurun, issued a communique which unequivocally  decried   the UPU endorsement of David Edevbie .

The Urhobo Youth Forum  further assertted that the idea was mendaciously ochestrated to  serve  vested interest of  few Political godfather's who

have nothing to offer the masses that  are  clamoring  for a free fair and transparent Primary

election, where  the delegates will decide  who  becomes  the fllagbearer of the Party on May 21st.

Comrade Agadia Samuel Oghenegare

the President of Save Urhobo Youths Forum who addressed a group of selected Journalists in the same  venue shortly after the meeting  said:  " As you can see l called an emergency exco meeting  over the endorsement episode and the stormy wind it has gathered in the political  space of Delta State."

Continuing, he added :  " Without mixing words , l am  telling  you categorically that , the Save Urhobo Youths Forum have already issued a communique against that lopsided agenda. "

" l granted this press chat to communicate our view to ,

His Excellency, Senator Dr Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, the Executive Governor of Delta State ,the Party Chairman, Bar Kingsley Esiso, and other relevant stakeholders  of the party Particularly the delegates to set aside the ill  motivated endorsement of David Edevbie by the UPU."

The Urhobo  Youth boss explained that it is very   wrong for the UPU

to come out to support one aspirant when they are supposed to play a fatherly role to all the aspirants of Urhobo extraction and guide them in a level playing field until one of them will emerges .

Agadia lamented that  what  the UPU  have done if not carefully handled is possible of creating deep seated hatred and long time acrimonies  which are actually avoidable if UPU had just remained  apolitical and play by the rule of the game as a father  figure to all the  aspirants.

Speaking further,Comrade Agadia Samuel Oghenegare the Urhobo Youth

leader   expressed the view that there are no infallible statistics  to prove that David Edevbie is better than other   Urhobo  aspirants in the race for the Governorship especially when  the UPU

in that inconsequential endorsement  acknowledged that all the aspirants have the requisite knowledge and relevant experience to  govern Delta

State come 2023 if given the mandate by the electorates via the ballot.

He urged the delegates once again to brace up and go to Asaba with unruffled feathers to select a candidate who will

add value to the SMART Agenda and the Stronger Delta Vision of Governnor Okowa.

PTI Defends Its Reputation Against Misleading Sahara Media Report By Wilson Macaulay Effurun, Delta State July 12 2025 The Management of the prestigious Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, has vehemently refuted a sensational and malicious report published by Sahara Reporters on July 10, 2025, which alleged that students of the foremost oil and gas institution study in “flooded classrooms and snake-infested hostels” despite a ₦39 billion budget. Describing the publication as “baseless, mischievous, and an orchestrated attempt to malign the integrity of the institution,” PTI Management said the report is not only factually inaccurate but also a deliberate attack on the hard-earned reputation and progress of the institution under its current leadership. In a strongly worded statement issued on Friday, the management declared: > “There are absolutely no flooded classrooms or snake-infested hostels within the Institute. These claims are complete fabrications devoid of any evidence or truth.” Management further challenged Sahara Reporters to produce any verifiable photographic or video proof to substantiate its claims. > “If such conditions exist as alleged, Sahara Reporters should have no difficulty presenting concrete evidence. Until then, their report remains a reckless misrepresentation aimed at misleading the public.” PTI clarified that all its lecture halls, laboratories, workshops, and hostels are structurally sound, properly ventilated, electrically powered, and routinely maintained. The Institute prides itself on maintaining a safe and conducive academic environment for learning, innovation, and professional development in the oil and gas sector. The management in clear terms described the publication as the work of “unscrupulous elements seeking to sow discord and cast aspersions on the steady infrastructural development PTI has recorded in recent years.” As a center of excellence in petroleum training and manpower development, PTI has, under its current administration, seen remarkable transformation in terms of physical infrastructure, digital modernization, and student welfare programs. The Institute continues to attract local and international recognition for its cutting-edge research and high-impact training curriculum. While assuring stakeholders, parents, and the general public of its unwavering commitment to the safety and welfare of its students, the management reiterated its call for responsible journalism and urged media practitioners to verify facts before rushing to publication. “We remain focused on our mandate and will not be distracted by smear campaigns designed to derail our progress.”
