Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Communications, Chief Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has expressed profound gratitude to God, and his boss, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, over apprtovals for the construction of 2.49 kilometers internal roads network  in Kokori community, Ethiope East Local Government Area.


Oghenesivbe in swift reaction to the State Executive Council approval on Thursday 19th May, for the immediate construction of Okpe and Agbonmiyerin Streets, described the projects as his 60th birthday gift from governor Okowa and the state government, adding that Okpe street has been long abandoned by successive governments.


He posited that governor Okowa has broken the jinx by approving the construction of the two roads which shall be commissioned before his handover date on May 29, 2023.


"I feel like breakdancing because the two road projects just approved by Exco has been abandoned by previous administrations in the state. 


"I cried to Gov Okowa to do something, and as a promise keeper the roads will now be constructed. This is remarkable, our amiable governor has again kept yet another promise. Thank you Sir.


"By this singular act, Gov Okowa has given me a voice in my community to shine and to mobilize heavily for our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. I am indeed very grateful.


"Those who said that Okowa does not have Latimore's time, those who lied that Okowa hates Latimore, will have to walk back their lies and misconception, and join me to thank my good boss, the road master, Gov Okowa, for his visionary leadership, and for honouring me and Kokori community in this dispensation.


"My elders and youth in Okpe and Agboniyerin streets, as well as the good people of Kokori community in Agbon Kingdom, conveys their profound gratitude and appreciation to His Excellency, the Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa. 


"It is becoming glaring by every passing day that Ethiope East PDP shall win elections in 2023, because of the unprecedented socioeconomic and infrastructure development in the LGA by Okowa administration," Oghenesivbe assured.

PTI Defends Its Reputation Against Misleading Sahara Media Report By Wilson Macaulay Effurun, Delta State July 12 2025 The Management of the prestigious Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, has vehemently refuted a sensational and malicious report published by Sahara Reporters on July 10, 2025, which alleged that students of the foremost oil and gas institution study in “flooded classrooms and snake-infested hostels” despite a ₦39 billion budget. Describing the publication as “baseless, mischievous, and an orchestrated attempt to malign the integrity of the institution,” PTI Management said the report is not only factually inaccurate but also a deliberate attack on the hard-earned reputation and progress of the institution under its current leadership. In a strongly worded statement issued on Friday, the management declared: > “There are absolutely no flooded classrooms or snake-infested hostels within the Institute. These claims are complete fabrications devoid of any evidence or truth.” Management further challenged Sahara Reporters to produce any verifiable photographic or video proof to substantiate its claims. > “If such conditions exist as alleged, Sahara Reporters should have no difficulty presenting concrete evidence. Until then, their report remains a reckless misrepresentation aimed at misleading the public.” PTI clarified that all its lecture halls, laboratories, workshops, and hostels are structurally sound, properly ventilated, electrically powered, and routinely maintained. The Institute prides itself on maintaining a safe and conducive academic environment for learning, innovation, and professional development in the oil and gas sector. The management in clear terms described the publication as the work of “unscrupulous elements seeking to sow discord and cast aspersions on the steady infrastructural development PTI has recorded in recent years.” As a center of excellence in petroleum training and manpower development, PTI has, under its current administration, seen remarkable transformation in terms of physical infrastructure, digital modernization, and student welfare programs.
