Effurun Uvwie LGA Delta State have sent a distress call / compassionate
appeal to the Delta State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Senator Dr Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa and the Niger Delta Development Commission
(NDDC) to come to their aid.
They made this appeal while speaking to
Wilson Macaulay our correspondent in Warri Delta State.
Bellow are excerpts
Residents of Ededjor Community off Jakpa road in Effurun Uvwie LGA of Delta State have cried in a Save our Soul Message ( SOS) sent to His Excellency, Senator Dr Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, the Executive Governor of Delta State and the Management of the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC over the dangerous neglect of their road which is making life unbearable for the people of Ededjor Community.
The Ededjor Community in their distress Call to the Delta State Governnor and NDDC. stated that they have made several repeated calls to see how the
road can be tarred but all their efforts
in the past have met a brick wall.
Deacon Sunday O.S Egboye ,
the Chairman of Ededjor Community,
on behalf of the Exco and the entire Community While speaking to Daily lndependent Newspaper lamented that
they are passing through hell, because of the deplorable situation of the road Which is now a no go area for vehicles due to the bad condition .
Deacon Sunday Egboye the Ededjor Community Chairman explained during the interview that since all the surrounding streets near to Ededjor has been tarred in this Jakpa axis, what we are now experiencing is a deluge of water over three metres deep that has perpectually settled on the road to
make it look like a shallow river.
According to Deacon Egboye, the Ededjor Community Chair , we are sending this compassionate appeal to
the Delta State Government, the amiable
Road Master Governor, the NDDC to kindly come and remove us from the menace of water flooding our homes.
Egboye ,the Ededjor Community Chairman noted that they have written to NDDC before now but they have not been lucky enough to strike a positive
deal in the Commission.
Speaking further, he said : " Daily lndependent, we thank God you are here,
you can see things for yourself now.
Please ,kindly help us tell our story. convey our message to Governor Okowa and the Management of NDDC. Our vehicles are parked outside , you have seen the bad condition. Please , be sure that all relevant authorities hear of the bad condition of our road."
""l am sure that if Governor Okowa actually know the true condition of
our road, and how it has paralized commercial activities and social life,
he will come to our aid. Since we
have no voice loud enough, Daily Independent please, amplify this message and make sure that the Governor get to hear about our plight so
that he can come to the rescue of the
people of Ededjor community."
He correctly observed that there is no drainage in Ededjor Community road, so the water remains stagnant on the street even though we are not too far from the river where the stagnant water can be channeled to.
Deacon Egboye, the Ededjor Community Chair pointed out that ,some Government Officialls have come in the past claiming that they want to tar the road and they brought
NDDC Logo ,cast on a cement block
and positioned it at the junction of our community road at the Jakpa road end, up till now we did not see them again, he lamented.
.
Pastor Godfrey Oliseh, the Regional Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries , Region 91 Who spoke to Daily lndependent on behalf of other Churches in the Community said: " This is Ededjor Community with many Churches, we have the
Living Faith Church, the Redeemed Christian Church of God, National Apostolic Church etc . We are pleading
with Governor Okowa and the Management of NDDC to come to the aid of Ededjor community.
The clergy man stated :"Once it rains we have the mess of this road. We are
humbly appealing to the Delta State Government and NDDC to come and help us as we pray for God to guide and protect them in Jesus name."
He pointed out that there are so many economic and social benefits attached
if the road is eventually constructed.
Prince Perekeme Peresuode, a Lecturer of the Department of Mathematics at the College Education Warri, who worships at the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries who also made his contribution to the save our soul message said: " Daily Independent thank God you are here, as you can see
our road is in a very bad shape. When
ever it rains, we swim where we ought to Walk, while vehicles find it very difficult to access the road, due to a better portion of the road that is submerged
in water."
He continued: " We want the Government to take the burden and the pains of this bad road off our shoulders,
the Ededjor Community, is today a slum
but once it is tarred, real growth and development Will now begin to take place."
