Alders league & Friends donate to Catholic old peoples home, orphanage in Warri

A group, Alders league & Friends,  has donated food items and other consumables to Catholic Old Peoples home  and Esther's court orphanage shelter and rehabilitation centre in Warri , Delta state. 



At the Catholic old Peoples home, items donated include cartons of three crown milk ,Ovaltine , spaghetti, washing, bathing soaps and Noddles . Other items were bags of rice , beans , garri, jerrycans of groundnut oil and many other consumables. 


Matron of the home , Mrs Cordilia Ehimere thanked the group for the kind act, praying that God almighty will reward them graciously.  " God will bless you all for this kindness ".


Some of the oldies , Pa Stephen Ubogo , Pa Oboh Tom also took turns to pray for members of the Alders league &Friends.


At the Esther's court orphanage shelter and Rehabilitation centre , some of the items donated include a brand new  4000  Firman size generator , cartons of frozen chickens, fish, Noddles, spaghetti, washing ,bathing soaps, clothes, school bags, tomatoes paste , cartons of Milo , peak milk , knorr cubes, ceiling fans , gallons of groundnut oil , two laptops, consumables and several other items..


Chairman of the group, Chief Dr Eugene Ikomi in a chat later with  newsmen said the body was founded by friends who grew up in the 60s in the old city of Warri, precisely Alders town , adding that the whole essence of the group was to rebrand the oil rich city of Warri. 


He said they derived the name of the group , Alders league from Alders town , an area covering the old part of the oil rich city of Warri, adding that they later changed the name to Alders league and friends to accommodate friends who joined the group but grew up in other parts of Warri. 


He said they are not a political and ethnic conscious body. "We are an amorphous group. "





"Our name Alders town is derived from Alders town in Warri, the old Warri township. Many years later we changed it to Alders league & friends. We found some people who grew up in Warri but not in Alders town that joined us. " 




"Today we focused on the aged people and young orphans . We visited the Catholic old peoples home. We hope to continue to do this."

PTI Defends Its Reputation Against Misleading Sahara Media Report By Wilson Macaulay Effurun, Delta State July 12 2025 The Management of the prestigious Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, has vehemently refuted a sensational and malicious report published by Sahara Reporters on July 10, 2025, which alleged that students of the foremost oil and gas institution study in “flooded classrooms and snake-infested hostels” despite a ₦39 billion budget. Describing the publication as “baseless, mischievous, and an orchestrated attempt to malign the integrity of the institution,” PTI Management said the report is not only factually inaccurate but also a deliberate attack on the hard-earned reputation and progress of the institution under its current leadership. In a strongly worded statement issued on Friday, the management declared: > “There are absolutely no flooded classrooms or snake-infested hostels within the Institute. These claims are complete fabrications devoid of any evidence or truth.” Management further challenged Sahara Reporters to produce any verifiable photographic or video proof to substantiate its claims. > “If such conditions exist as alleged, Sahara Reporters should have no difficulty presenting concrete evidence. Until then, their report remains a reckless misrepresentation aimed at misleading the public.” PTI clarified that all its lecture halls, laboratories, workshops, and hostels are structurally sound, properly ventilated, electrically powered, and routinely maintained. The Institute prides itself on maintaining a safe and conducive academic environment for learning, innovation, and professional development in the oil and gas sector. The management in clear terms described the publication as the work of “unscrupulous elements seeking to sow discord and cast aspersions on the steady infrastructural development PTI has recorded in recent years.” As a center of excellence in petroleum training and manpower development, PTI has, under its current administration, seen remarkable transformation in terms of physical infrastructure, digital modernization, and student welfare programs.
