Delta 2023: Agege lack integrity, can't be governor in Delta - Okowa's EAC

...Says spreading lies, hate speech is counter productive

By Wilson Macaulay

Executive Assistant on Communications to the Vice Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and governor of Delta State, Barr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has again emphasized on the need for political parties and their candidates to focus on issue based campaign.

Okowa's EAC made the call in a statement on Sunday, saying that the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has continued to engage in laughable campaign of falsehood and lies with targeted hate speech against the peace loving and highly cerebral governor of Delta State, and PDP Vice Presidential Candidate, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa.

He said governor Okowa's scorecards are in prints, beamed in series of television documentaries, constantly aired on local and national radio  networks including roads, schools and other projects executed in Agege's hometown of Orogun in Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state. They are tangible executed projects and programmes.

The EAC to governor Okowa further  stated that It is common knowledge that Senator Agege, does not have a manifesto containing his policies and programmes, and therefore cannot impress eligible voters with irresponsible campaign of hate speech, lies, media propaganda and verbal diarrhea.

Oghenesivbe who is also the spokesman of the Delta State Campaign Council Management Committee, noted that Senator Agege of the APC, has consistently proven beyond reasonable doubt that he does not have the temperament, competence, mental wellbeing, humility and foresight required of consummate leaders, and therefore cannot be elected governor of Delta State in 2023.

"It is the highest peak of fabrication of lies for Agege to say that he executed more projects in Delta State than governor Okowa. Does Agege have an annual budget for all year round capital projects in Delta State as a Senator? Of course, the Answer is NO. He is a lawmaker and not the President of Nigeria.

"Agege is yet to mention his projects in Delta State in the ongoing electioneering campaigns, no manifesto and no executed and commissioned federal projects in Delta State.

"It is shameful to have an irresponsible individual like Agege as a citizen of Delta State. Of a truth, his criminal proficiency and large appetite for crude politics stinks to high Heavens.

"The good people of Delta State and Nigerians should of a necessity ignore Senator Agege's empty vetipuration, blabbing and unproductive war of words that is not connected to how he would govern Delta State if elected.

"Delta PDP Governorship candidate,  Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, presented his M.O.R.E agenda to the electorates which contained his policies and programmes that will further advance Delta from 2023 to 2031.

"Oborevwori assured Deltans that he would listen more, do more and achieve more to expand meaningful development, opportunity for all Deltans, introduce realistic reforms and ensure enhanced peace and security that is anchored on economic growth, human capital development, wealth and job creation, et al.

"Senator Agege on the other hand, said he would partner with yahoo yahoo criminal elements to expand advance fee fraud in the state. This is the height of a mischievous conduct that is unbecoming of a governorship candidate and Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria," Oghenesivbe said.

PTI Defends Its Reputation Against Misleading Sahara Media Report By Wilson Macaulay Effurun, Delta State July 12 2025 The Management of the prestigious Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, has vehemently refuted a sensational and malicious report published by Sahara Reporters on July 10, 2025, which alleged that students of the foremost oil and gas institution study in “flooded classrooms and snake-infested hostels” despite a ₦39 billion budget. Describing the publication as “baseless, mischievous, and an orchestrated attempt to malign the integrity of the institution,” PTI Management said the report is not only factually inaccurate but also a deliberate attack on the hard-earned reputation and progress of the institution under its current leadership. In a strongly worded statement issued on Friday, the management declared: > “There are absolutely no flooded classrooms or snake-infested hostels within the Institute. These claims are complete fabrications devoid of any evidence or truth.” Management further challenged Sahara Reporters to produce any verifiable photographic or video proof to substantiate its claims. > “If such conditions exist as alleged, Sahara Reporters should have no difficulty presenting concrete evidence. Until then, their report remains a reckless misrepresentation aimed at misleading the public.” PTI clarified that all its lecture halls, laboratories, workshops, and hostels are structurally sound, properly ventilated, electrically powered, and routinely maintained. The Institute prides itself on maintaining a safe and conducive academic environment for learning, innovation, and professional development in the oil and gas sector. The management in clear terms described the publication as the work of “unscrupulous elements seeking to sow discord and cast aspersions on the steady infrastructural development PTI has recorded in recent years.” As a center of excellence in petroleum training and manpower development, PTI has, under its current administration, seen remarkable transformation in terms of physical infrastructure, digital modernization, and student welfare programs. The Institute continues to attract local and international recognition for its cutting-edge research and high-impact training curriculum. While assuring stakeholders, parents, and the general public of its unwavering commitment to the safety and welfare of its students, the management reiterated its call for responsible journalism and urged media practitioners to verify facts before rushing to publication. “We remain focused on our mandate and will not be distracted by smear campaigns designed to derail our progress.”
