Ahead of the 2023 general elections, Honourable Commissioner for Water Resources Development, Delta State, Hon Sam Mariere has charged members of the Samuel Mariere Campaign Organization, tagged SAMMY SAMACO, to work for winner of the primary election he lost in May this year, Hon Solomon Awhinawhin, as if they were working for him, noting that since after the primaries he has moved on and so expect his supporters from the three Local Government Areas to work for winners of all the primary elections in the Udu/Ughelli federal constituency.

Addressing LGA and Wards Coordinators of the SAMMY SAMACO group at Evwreni, Hon Mariere noted that after the primaries, everybody must rally round the winners for the progress of the party, charging them to go home and work hard for the party as if they were working for him.

‘’For those of you from Udu, go and deliver Chief Jite Brown for House of Assembly. You have no choice. Even if you don’t like JIte Brown, for my sake go and work for him. I will not abandon you. Those in Ughelli South should go and deliver Amos Utuama. You cannot be my friend and do otherwise. In Ughelli Noth, you must deliver Agofure and Idiovwa. That is the way to go.

‘’For the House of Representatives, go and work for Solomon Awhinawhin as if you are working for me. I have taken his election as a personal one. That is the way I want you to accept Awhinawhin. His project is the SAMMY SAMACO project. I urge you to also deliver Chief Ighoyota Amori. He is a father and leader and you must work for him.

‘’For the Governorship election, take it as if Mariere is the one in the ballot. It is my personal project and everybody must go and deliver their units for Sheriff Oborevwori. He is my in-law and friend. He married my sister and the whole of Evwreni is upbeat about his campaigns. I beg you to go and work for my in-law. For the Presidential election, it is a done deal for Atiku/Okowa. Don’t waste your vote on anybody else’’, Mariere added.

He charged the supporters to work assiduously for the victory of the party, assuring that he was going to ensure the benefits get to as many people as possible in the group.

Those who spoke at the meeting including Chief Amos Ighoroje, Engr William Emuophe among others pledged to obey the directive of Hon Sam Mariere so as to deliver for PDP in the coming election.

PTI Defends Its Reputation Against Misleading Sahara Media Report By Wilson Macaulay Effurun, Delta State July 12 2025 The Management of the prestigious Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, has vehemently refuted a sensational and malicious report published by Sahara Reporters on July 10, 2025, which alleged that students of the foremost oil and gas institution study in “flooded classrooms and snake-infested hostels” despite a ₦39 billion budget. Describing the publication as “baseless, mischievous, and an orchestrated attempt to malign the integrity of the institution,” PTI Management said the report is not only factually inaccurate but also a deliberate attack on the hard-earned reputation and progress of the institution under its current leadership. In a strongly worded statement issued on Friday, the management declared: > “There are absolutely no flooded classrooms or snake-infested hostels within the Institute. These claims are complete fabrications devoid of any evidence or truth.” Management further challenged Sahara Reporters to produce any verifiable photographic or video proof to substantiate its claims. > “If such conditions exist as alleged, Sahara Reporters should have no difficulty presenting concrete evidence. Until then, their report remains a reckless misrepresentation aimed at misleading the public.” PTI clarified that all its lecture halls, laboratories, workshops, and hostels are structurally sound, properly ventilated, electrically powered, and routinely maintained. The Institute prides itself on maintaining a safe and conducive academic environment for learning, innovation, and professional development in the oil and gas sector. The management in clear terms described the publication as the work of “unscrupulous elements seeking to sow discord and cast aspersions on the steady infrastructural development PTI has recorded in recent years.” As a center of excellence in petroleum training and manpower development, PTI has, under its current administration, seen remarkable transformation in terms of physical infrastructure, digital modernization, and student welfare programs. The Institute continues to attract local and international recognition for its cutting-edge research and high-impact training curriculum. While assuring stakeholders, parents, and the general public of its unwavering commitment to the safety and welfare of its students, the management reiterated its call for responsible journalism and urged media practitioners to verify facts before rushing to publication. “We remain focused on our mandate and will not be distracted by smear campaigns designed to derail our progress.”
