Oborevwori, Okowa united for good of Delta - Oghenesivbe ...Says no conflict over juicy political appointments.

Spokesperson of Delta State Campaign Council of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the just concluded 2023 general elections, Olorogun Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe Esq, has said that the immediate past governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON, is in one accord with the state governor, Elder Sheriff Francis Oborevwori.

Oghenesivbe gave the assurance in a statement on Sunday in swift reaction to a trending, but unfounded speculation by a section of the media, alleging that the duo of Oborevwori and Okowa are in cold war over choice of would-be nominees for juicy political appointments.

He  noted that the allegation was part of the deliberate negative media antics of the main opposition party in the state to hit up the polity, and to send out the wrong signal that Okowa is still in charge of governance in the state after serving the two tenure slot of Delta North Senatorial District under the PDP power rotation agreement.

The PDP Chieftain further assured that governor Oborevwori will not lose focus on good governance in the state, and that the implementation of his electioneering campaigns promises to Deltans as contained in the M.O.R.E agenda, is already on course and shall be full blown after constituting his cabinet in the near future

Oghenesivbe posited that the incumbent governor, Elder Oborevwori holds the comstitutional powers to appoint members of his cabinet and political aides after wide consultations with the party leadership and all major stakeholders, including past governors and devoid of acrimony.

He  posited in his statement that Oborevwori was elected to serve the two tenures of Delta Central Senatorial District, and must do so without undue interference from any quarter and anyone, pointing out that since assuming office on May 29, this year, Oborevwori has led the state with mesmerizing charisma, competence and perfectly in charge of state affairs without undue interference from any past governor of the state, not from governor Okowa.

"It is not true that governor Oborevwori is in conflict with immediate past governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, over would-be nominees for juicy political appointments to the tune of forty percent, as alleged by a section of the media loyal to the main opposition party in the state.

"This is another deliberate attempt by those who does not mean well for the state to create artificial or nonexistent conflict between governor Oborevwori and senator Okowa.

"The incumbent governor holds the constitutional right to appoint members of his cabinet and political aides, just as past governors did without undue influence, and in the instant case, governor Oborevwori is fully in charge and will never be at war with Okowa or any past governor over anythiny.

"Governor Oborevwori is working and the names of nominees for his cabinet shall be made public in due time.

"There is certainly no cause for alarm. Nothing shall go wrong between Oborevwori and Okowa, or any other past governor, for that matter, by the Grace of God," Oghenesivbe assured.

PTI Defends Its Reputation Against Misleading Sahara Media Report By Wilson Macaulay Effurun, Delta State July 12 2025 The Management of the prestigious Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, has vehemently refuted a sensational and malicious report published by Sahara Reporters on July 10, 2025, which alleged that students of the foremost oil and gas institution study in “flooded classrooms and snake-infested hostels” despite a ₦39 billion budget. Describing the publication as “baseless, mischievous, and an orchestrated attempt to malign the integrity of the institution,” PTI Management said the report is not only factually inaccurate but also a deliberate attack on the hard-earned reputation and progress of the institution under its current leadership. In a strongly worded statement issued on Friday, the management declared: > “There are absolutely no flooded classrooms or snake-infested hostels within the Institute. These claims are complete fabrications devoid of any evidence or truth.” Management further challenged Sahara Reporters to produce any verifiable photographic or video proof to substantiate its claims. > “If such conditions exist as alleged, Sahara Reporters should have no difficulty presenting concrete evidence. Until then, their report remains a reckless misrepresentation aimed at misleading the public.” PTI clarified that all its lecture halls, laboratories, workshops, and hostels are structurally sound, properly ventilated, electrically powered, and routinely maintained. The Institute prides itself on maintaining a safe and conducive academic environment for learning, innovation, and professional development in the oil and gas sector. The management in clear terms described the publication as the work of “unscrupulous elements seeking to sow discord and cast aspersions on the steady infrastructural development PTI has recorded in recent years.” As a center of excellence in petroleum training and manpower development, PTI has, under its current administration, seen remarkable transformation in terms of physical infrastructure, digital modernization, and student welfare programs. The Institute continues to attract local and international recognition for its cutting-edge research and high-impact training curriculum. While assuring stakeholders, parents, and the general public of its unwavering commitment to the safety and welfare of its students, the management reiterated its call for responsible journalism and urged media practitioners to verify facts before rushing to publication. “We remain focused on our mandate and will not be distracted by smear campaigns designed to derail our progress.”
