Ailing Chief Kokori: Oborevwori got it right again - PDP Spokesperson.

...Says M.O.R.E Agenda is about humanity, good governance

2023 Campaign Spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State, Olorogun (Barr) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has commended the State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, for visiting elder statesman and former NUPENG National Secretary, Chief Frank Ovie Kokori, at his sick bed in Warri on Friday, saying that the M.O.R.E agenda is about humanity and good governance.

Earlier this week, Chief Kokori, was reported to be on sick bed at Horeb Hospital, followed by a trending social media complaints that his health was fast deteriorating, indicating that the chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, needed urgent assistance and better medical care to get back on his feet.

Acting on the media report, governor Oborevwori quickly responded by visiting Chief  Kokori, and at the same time instructed the hospital management to do whatever it takes to get the elder statesman back on his feet at the expense of the state government.

Oghenesivbe, in a statement on Friday in Lagos, and made available to newsmen, said the timely intervention by governor Oborevwori to take up Chief Kokori's medical bills was born out of his strong and compassionate desire to ensure that all Deltans, irrespective of political affiliation, benefited on equal basis from the M.O.R.E socioeconomic agenda of this administration, and in fulfilment of his promise to use the state resources for good governance and wellbeing of the people.

He quoted governor Oborevwori as saying that Chief Frank Ovie Kokori, deserves the attention and support of the State Government as a renowned elder statesman who had paid his dues for good governance for the nation, noting that the world will be a better place if we love one another, and care for each other at critical time of needs.

The Governor who also paid hospital bills for two other patients, Nnadi Silas and Adenusi Michael at the hospital, said despite their political differences, he would ensure Chief Kokori was given the due attention he deserve as an illustrious elder statesman from Delta state.

Oborevwori said: "I know people will think that because he is an APC chieftain I won't be here, Deltans voted for me as Governor. It is not a party matter now because we have finished election and all of us are one.

"Whether he is APC or not, am Governor for all Deltans, so am here as Governor for all, not for any party," he emphasized.

Responding,  Chief Frank Kokori commended Governor Oborevwori for behaving like the Yorubas who treat their elder statesmen well irrespective of their party or political leanings.

"I never knew Governor Oborevwori is a good man because immediately he heard about my condition, he came to see me.

"He wasn't close to me, it is Great Ogboru and Ovie Omo-Agege and co that are close to me so am so happy that he is not a mean fellow.

"He is a real Governor, a man who has such a heart is a good man and I have told him certain things privately how he will make his name in the history of Nigeria.

"I have told him to do certain essential things for the people. I am happy with him and have also prayed for him," he said.

Oghenesivbe, urged Deltans to keep praying for the governor, and to consistently give him all necessary support to enable him implement the M.O.R.E. agenda to fruition.

He assured that Oborevwori's tenure shall bring about uncommon socioeconomic remodelling and unprecedented overall development of the state, in fulfilment of his social contract with the people.

PTI Defends Its Reputation Against Misleading Sahara Media Report By Wilson Macaulay Effurun, Delta State July 12 2025 The Management of the prestigious Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, has vehemently refuted a sensational and malicious report published by Sahara Reporters on July 10, 2025, which alleged that students of the foremost oil and gas institution study in “flooded classrooms and snake-infested hostels” despite a ₦39 billion budget. Describing the publication as “baseless, mischievous, and an orchestrated attempt to malign the integrity of the institution,” PTI Management said the report is not only factually inaccurate but also a deliberate attack on the hard-earned reputation and progress of the institution under its current leadership. In a strongly worded statement issued on Friday, the management declared: > “There are absolutely no flooded classrooms or snake-infested hostels within the Institute. These claims are complete fabrications devoid of any evidence or truth.” Management further challenged Sahara Reporters to produce any verifiable photographic or video proof to substantiate its claims. > “If such conditions exist as alleged, Sahara Reporters should have no difficulty presenting concrete evidence. Until then, their report remains a reckless misrepresentation aimed at misleading the public.” PTI clarified that all its lecture halls, laboratories, workshops, and hostels are structurally sound, properly ventilated, electrically powered, and routinely maintained. The Institute prides itself on maintaining a safe and conducive academic environment for learning, innovation, and professional development in the oil and gas sector. The management in clear terms described the publication as the work of “unscrupulous elements seeking to sow discord and cast aspersions on the steady infrastructural development PTI has recorded in recent years.” As a center of excellence in petroleum training and manpower development, PTI has, under its current administration, seen remarkable transformation in terms of physical infrastructure, digital modernization, and student welfare programs. The Institute continues to attract local and international recognition for its cutting-edge research and high-impact training curriculum. While assuring stakeholders, parents, and the general public of its unwavering commitment to the safety and welfare of its students, the management reiterated its call for responsible journalism and urged media practitioners to verify facts before rushing to publication. “We remain focused on our mandate and will not be distracted by smear campaigns designed to derail our progress.”
