Emevor Royal Father Hands Over National Open University Study Centre , Thanks VC Prof Olufemi Peters For Commissioning Ceremony

His Royal Highness, DR Johnholt Ologho, the Odion of Emevor Kingdom,  Yesterday ,August 8th , 2024 in a heart warning ceremony   marked by gratitude and celebration,   extended his heartfelt thanks and  appreciation to Professor Peters  Olufemi, the esteemed Vice Chancellor of the National Open University, as he officially handled over and  commissioned  the permanent site of the Emevor Study Centre 


 The  Emevor Royal Father in his award presentation  speech noted that the landmark event of the  hand over and Commissioning of the permanent site of the Emevor Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria signifies a new chapter in the educational journey of Emevor people  in bringing enhanced learning opportunities and fostering academic excellence within the kingdom .


The Royal Father noted that  the presence of distinguished guests and the local populace underscored the profound impact of this initiative, as Emevor embarks on a path towards greater educational empowerment and development.



 His Royal Majesty, the  Odion of Emevor Kingdom, lauded Professor Peters  Olufemi and the entire Principal  officers  of NOUN for their unwavering commitment to expanding access to higher education across Nigeria. He noted that the establishment of the Emevor Study Centre would provide residents with an invaluable opportunity to pursue tertiary education without the need to travel long distances.


The Emevor Monarch also commended the laudable role played by Former Governor Arthur lfeanyi Okowa and the current Governor RT Hon Sheriff Oborevwori for constructing the Emevor Orogun Road phase 1  which leads to the Emevor Study centre of the National Open University of Nigeria.


Speaking further, he said: "Today, we are  witnessing the fulfillment of a dream long held by our community.The Emevor Study Centre represents a beacon of hope and progress, ensuring that our youths and adults alike can attain quality education right here in our homeland."


" We are deeply grateful to Professor Peters Olufemi and the entire Management of National Open University of Nigeria for recognizing the potential of Emevor Kingdom."


The Emevor Royal Father also  extended his heartfelt gratitude to  the Chairman of the occasion, Prof Akpotu Chris , President Isoko Development Union, IDU.

 The Emevor  Monarch also commended the inestimable contribution of  Emeritus Professor Godwin Sogolo,  the 0tukhe  of Emevor Kingdom, the Facilitator of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Emevor  Study  center, Whom he described as the Architect of Emevor Educational system.


Professor Peters  Olufemi, in his keynote Speech, expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and the enthusiastic support from the Emevor community. He highlighted NOUN's mission to democratize education by making it accessible, flexible, and affordable for all Nigerians, regardless of their geographical location.


"Our vision at NOUN is to break down barriers to education," Professor Olufemi stated. "The Emevor Study Centre is a testament to our commitment to this vision.  We believe that education is the cornerstone of development, and through this centre, we aim to empower individuals to contribute meaningfully to their community and the nation at large."


 The academic Don appreciated   HRH Dr Johnholt Ologho, the Odion of Emevor Kingdom for rising up to the occasion for making the Permanent site of the Emevor Study center of NOUN possible. He also thanked the Chairman of the occasion, Prof Akpotu Chris, Prof Godwin Sogolo for all the laudable effort of the Emevor Community , a people well known for their hospitality.

The Chairman of Isoko North LGA, Hon Prince Goodwin Ogorugba, ably represented by Hon Dr  Evelyn Aluta Congratulated the  good and hard working Emevor people for achieving the mile stone of the hand over  /Commissioning ceremony of the permanent site of the Emevor Study center of the National Open University..


The Chairman of occasion Prof Akpotu Chris while addressing  the audience asserted that Emevor for him represents light, because he always come to Emevor for educational purposes, himself  being  a product of James Welsh Grammar School Emevor .

Prof Akpotu Chris , the Chairman of the day thanked the Emevor Community for

understanding the strategic importance of education in Emevor by embracing  the opportunity of a study Centrer of NOUN in Emevor to place the Community in global economic significance.

Emeritus  Professor, Godwin Sogolo the Othuke of Emevor Kingdom, the Facilitator of the National Open University Emevor Study center in his speech thanked the Vice Chancellor, Prof Olufemi Peters for turning the dream of Emevor Kingdom to reality.

He went  down the memory lane to trace the genesis of the journey, noting that there is need to thank God for the success of the project.


Comrade  Teddy Jon Edoso, the  President General of Emevor Progress Union (EPU) earlier  in his welcome address observed that the Emevor People sincerely cherish the value of education hence their joy have no bounds.


The handover  /commissioning event also featured a tour of the new facility, showcasing its modern classrooms, well-equipped computer labs, and resourceful library. Attendees were  impressed by the infrastructure and the conducive learning environment designed to facilitate effective study and academic excellence.


In addition to the speeches,  the ceremony included cultural performances that celebrated the rich heritage of Emevor, further enhancing the sense of pride and unity among the attendees. The event concluded with the  Emevor Monarch giving a special  recognition award to the VC  Prof Peters Olufemi  and appreciation award to Emeritus Prof Godwin Sogolo, there  after,the symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony was done , officially opening the Emevor Study Centre to students and the public by Prof Olufemi Peters the  Vice Chancellor of the University flanked by HRH, DR Johnholt Ologho the Odion of Emevor Kingdom, and other principal officers of the citadel of learning.


The establishment of the Emevor Study Centre is expected to have a profound impact on the community, providing educational opportunities that will foster personal growth, skill development, and socio-economic advancement.
