By Wilson Macaulay

In a remarkable display of his  quest for the proportional development, the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, a fortnight  ago gave the green light for the construction of Ogulagha Okontu  0dimodi road a vital road in Burutu Local Government Area, which   has long been awaited by the people of the riverine communities.

This development  as expected drew commendations from various stakeholders of Ogulagha Kingdom in particular and Burutu local government in general for the magnanimous disposition of the Governor towards the ljaw nation.

High Comrade Joseph Lamienghan, the Secretary of Delta State HOSTCOM

a prominent voice in the Niger Delta speaking to newsmen in Warri Metropolis  expressed his profound appreciation to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his unwavering commitment to the infrastructural development of Delta State, particularly in the often-overlooked riverine areas. According to High  Comrade Joseph Lamienghan, the approval of this road project  stretching from  Ogulagha to Okontu to 0dimodi represents a turning point for the people of Burutu LGA, whose access to critical infrastructure has been limited for years due to geographical constraints.

High Comrade Lamienghan stressed:

“The decision by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to prioritize the construction of this road is indeed incredible. It reflects his deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by the riverine communities and his dedication to ensuring that development reaches every corner of the state. This road will not only improve transportation but will also open up the area for economic activities, creating jobs and improving the living standards of our people,”

However, Lamienghan als made a compassionate appeal for

other riverine communities in the oil rich Kingdom, like Obotobo 1, Obotobo 2,  Sekebolou, Yokiri, Obuguru and other riverine communities within the Kingdom and  beyond to  be considered for road projects.

He further highlighted the governor’s foresight in recognizing the economic potential of Burutu LGA. The new road, he noted, would enhance the transportation of goods and services, reduce travel time, and facilitate easier access to healthcare, education, and other essential services. For decades, the people of Burutu have been hindered by the lack of good roads, forcing many to rely solely on waterways, which are not always accessible, especially during certain seasons. This new road will be a game-changer in addressing these challenges.

The road is also expected to connect various communities within the local government, fostering greater unity and cooperation among them.

High  Comrade Joseph Lamienghan believes that this infrastructure will serve as a catalyst for rapid development in the area, particularly in the oil and gas sector, as Burutu is rich in natural resources.

“This project will open up new opportunities for the youth, women, and the business community. It will encourage industrialization and boost commerce within and beyond Burutu, making it a hub for economic activities in Delta State,”

He also commended Governor Oborevwori for his administration’s inclusive approach to governance, noting that the governor has continually demonstrated that his “More Agenda” is not just a slogan but a realistic action plan aimed at bridging the infrastructural gap across Delta State. Lamienghan expressed his confidence in the governor’s leadership, urging other stakeholders and community leaders to support the MORE AGENDA and ensure its successful implementation.

“Governor Oborevwori has shown that he is a man of the people, committed to delivering sustainable development across the state. His administration’s focus on road infrastructure is laudable, and this project in Burutu is a clear testament to his vision for a connected, prosperous Delta State. I call on the good people of Burutu to rally behind this project and offer all necessary support to ensure its timely completion,” he added.

In closing, High Comrade Joseph Lamienghan reiterated his gratitude to Governor Oborevwori and his administration, stating that the Burutu road project would forever remain a milestone in the history of the local government. He expressed hope that other riverine communities would continue to benefit from similar projects under the governor’s visionary leadership.

The road , when completed, will significantly transform the socioeconomic landscape of Burutu LGA and contribute to the overall development of Delta State, marking yet another achievement in Governor Oborevwori’s administration’s quest to deliver on its promises of inclusive development and prosperity for all.

PTI Defends Its Reputation Against Misleading Sahara Media Report By Wilson Macaulay Effurun, Delta State July 12 2025 The Management of the prestigious Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, has vehemently refuted a sensational and malicious report published by Sahara Reporters on July 10, 2025, which alleged that students of the foremost oil and gas institution study in “flooded classrooms and snake-infested hostels” despite a ₦39 billion budget. Describing the publication as “baseless, mischievous, and an orchestrated attempt to malign the integrity of the institution,” PTI Management said the report is not only factually inaccurate but also a deliberate attack on the hard-earned reputation and progress of the institution under its current leadership. In a strongly worded statement issued on Friday, the management declared: > “There are absolutely no flooded classrooms or snake-infested hostels within the Institute. These claims are complete fabrications devoid of any evidence or truth.” Management further challenged Sahara Reporters to produce any verifiable photographic or video proof to substantiate its claims. > “If such conditions exist as alleged, Sahara Reporters should have no difficulty presenting concrete evidence. Until then, their report remains a reckless misrepresentation aimed at misleading the public.” PTI clarified that all its lecture halls, laboratories, workshops, and hostels are structurally sound, properly ventilated, electrically powered, and routinely maintained. The Institute prides itself on maintaining a safe and conducive academic environment for learning, innovation, and professional development in the oil and gas sector. The management in clear terms described the publication as the work of “unscrupulous elements seeking to sow discord and cast aspersions on the steady infrastructural development PTI has recorded in recent years.” As a center of excellence in petroleum training and manpower development, PTI has, under its current administration, seen remarkable transformation in terms of physical infrastructure, digital modernization, and student welfare programs. The Institute continues to attract local and international recognition for its cutting-edge research and high-impact training curriculum. While assuring stakeholders, parents, and the general public of its unwavering commitment to the safety and welfare of its students, the management reiterated its call for responsible journalism and urged media practitioners to verify facts before rushing to publication. “We remain focused on our mandate and will not be distracted by smear campaigns designed to derail our progress.”
