VC FUPRE Represents President Tinubu at ADUN 3rd Convocation, Urges Research for National Development






Engr. Professor Akpofure Rim-Rukeh FNES, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), represented His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, at the 3rd Convocation Ceremony of Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN) in Ibusa, Delta State, on November 22, 2024.


Delivering the President’s address, Professor Rim-Rukeh urged ADUN to focus its research on addressing Nigeria’s critical challenges, particularly in security, economic growth, and infrastructure, through innovative technological solutions.


He also commended the institution for striving to establish faculties of engineering and marine studies, highlighting how these developments will enhance shipbuilding, maintenance, and allied endeavors, thereby driving technological advancement and creating job opportunities.


According to the President, over ₦70 billion has already been processed for payment to students under the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFund), further demonstrating the government’s commitment to supporting education and empowering the nation’s youth.


In his representation, Professor Rim-Rukeh reinforced the federal government’s commitment to supporting ADUN’s academic and research excellence, underscoring the importance of innovation in national development.


The event featured the conferment of degrees and awards, celebrating ADUN’s significant contributions to Nigeria’s educational growth and development.

Until then, their report remains a reckless misrepresentation aimed at misleading the public.” PTI clarified that all its lecture halls, laboratories, workshops, and hostels are structurally sound, properly ventilated, electrically powered, and routinely maintained. The Institute prides itself on maintaining a safe and conducive academic environment for learning, innovation, and professional development in the oil and gas sector. The management in clear terms described the publication as the work of “unscrupulous elements seeking to sow discord and cast aspersions on the steady infrastructural development PTI has recorded in recent years.” As a center of excellence in petroleum training and manpower development, PTI has, under its current administration, seen remarkable transformation in terms of physical infrastructure, digital modernization, and student welfare programs. The Institute continues to attract local and international recognition for its cutting-edge research and high-impact training curriculum. While assuring stakeholders, parents, and the general public of its unwavering commitment to the safety and welfare of its students, the management reiterated its call for responsible journalism and urged media practitioners to verify facts before rushing to publication. “We remain focused on our mandate and will not be distracted by smear campaigns designed to derail our progress.”
