Hoodlums Attack Odion Urhobo Community in Warri Metropolis

Residents of Odion Urhobo Community, in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State were thrown into chaos on Wednesday 28th January, 2025 at about 7.45 PM when they were attacked by heavily armed unknown hoodlums.
According to eye witnesses in the Community , the hoodlums shot sporadically into the air to disperse residents, broke into the community town hall , destroyed properties and carted some away many valuable items.
The people of Odion Urhobo Community in Warri South Local Government Area are now living in fear following the unexpected attack on the community , a source asserted.
Considering the wild scale of the attack and the efrontry with which the raid was done, Odion Urhobo Community leaders appealed to law enforcement agencies to beef up security around the community to prevent reoccurrence.
According to the Secretary General of Ogwhuvwie in Council of the community, Mr Omude Iyara while speaking to the Press, noted that they narrowly escaped being killed by the hoodlums by whiskers.
Mr lyara in his Press statement condemned the attack in its entirety lamented the looting of the town hall valuables.
Madam Dora Iyara and Youth Secretary of the community, Comrade Hope Opoggen while narrating their ordeal to the media said : " The attack came in a commandoic form. Though no life was lost during the ugly incident, several residents sustained various degree of injuries. We do not want a repeat of this kind unprovoked attack again."
While stressing the call for law enforcement agents to beef up security in the Odion Urhobo Community, the Odion Urhobo Community leaders also called on His Excellency, RT Hon Sheriff Oborevwori the Executive Governor of Delta State to set up a panel of inquiring to find out the motive of the attackers.
The Odion Urhobo people pointed out in their save our soul message to the Governor that they are law abiding citizens as such should be protected by the government.
However, they thanked the Chairman of Warri South Local Government, Hon Isaac Agbeteyiniro for his swift response to the issue when the distress call got to him.
