Kabba (Owe) Okemeta Council of Chiefs Celebrates Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on His Birthday, Hailing Him as a Divine Gift to Kogi State

The Kabba (Owe) Okemeta Council of Chiefs, the umbrella body of traditional titleholders and esteemed stakeholders of Oweland, has extended its heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, on the occasion of his birthday, which coincides with the New Year celebrations.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Council, Chief Adegboyega Aka, the Obafoun of Oweland, the Council described Governor Ododo as a God-sent leader whose emergence has brought renewed hope and development to the people of Kogi State. The Council also expressed gratitude to the former Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, for recognising and nurturing the leadership qualities in Governor Ododo.

The Council commended Governor Ododo’s dedication to the progress of Kogi State, with particular emphasis on his transformative infrastructural projects. These include the ongoing erosion control initiatives in Kabba Municipality, significant advancements at Kogi State University, Kabba, and his commitment to the overall well-being of the people. These initiatives, according to Chief Aka, have inspired a sense of pride and optimism across the state.

“Governor Ododo’s passion for progress, inclusive governance, and tireless dedication to improving the lives of the youth, women, and all citizens of Kogi State have set him apart as a visionary leader,” Chief Aka noted.

The Council seized the opportunity to commend the administration’s efforts in maintaining traditional harmony and order in communities across the state. They also humbly called on the government to resolve the lingering controversy surrounding the selection of a new Obadofin of Oweland by approving the appointment of the popular candidate, Chief Julius Arokoyo who emerged through due process from the ruling group. Such an action, the Council emphasised, is essential for restoring peace and unity in Kabba.

“On behalf of the entire members of the Kabba (Owe) Okemeta Council of Chiefs and the people of Kabba community, we extend our warmest and most heartfelt birthday wishes to Your Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo,” the statement read.

“As you mark this special day, we pray for God’s abundant blessings upon your life. May you be granted good health, unending wisdom, and the strength to steer Kogi State to even greater heights of growth and prosperity. May your leadership continue to inspire progress, unity, and hope among the people.”

The Kabba (Owe) Okemeta Council of Chiefs expressed confidence that Governor Ododo’s tenure will leave an indelible mark on the history of Kogi State, further solidifying his legacy as a transformational leader.

The Council concluded with prayers for the Governor’s continued success and fulfillment in the noble task of leading the state to unprecedented development

PTI Defends Its Reputation Against Misleading Sahara Media Report By Wilson Macaulay Effurun, Delta State July 12 2025 The Management of the prestigious Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, has vehemently refuted a sensational and malicious report published by Sahara Reporters on July 10, 2025, which alleged that students of the foremost oil and gas institution study in “flooded classrooms and snake-infested hostels” despite a ₦39 billion budget. Describing the publication as “baseless, mischievous, and an orchestrated attempt to malign the integrity of the institution,” PTI Management said the report is not only factually inaccurate but also a deliberate attack on the hard-earned reputation and progress of the institution under its current leadership. In a strongly worded statement issued on Friday, the management declared: > “There are absolutely no flooded classrooms or snake-infested hostels within the Institute. These claims are complete fabrications devoid of any evidence or truth.” Management further challenged Sahara Reporters to produce any verifiable photographic or video proof to substantiate its claims. > “If such conditions exist as alleged, Sahara Reporters should have no difficulty presenting concrete evidence. Until then, their report remains a reckless misrepresentation aimed at misleading the public.” PTI clarified that all its lecture halls, laboratories, workshops, and hostels are structurally sound, properly ventilated, electrically powered, and routinely maintained. The Institute prides itself on maintaining a safe and conducive academic environment for learning, innovation, and professional development in the oil and gas sector. The management in clear terms described the publication as the work of “unscrupulous elements seeking to sow discord and cast aspersions on the steady infrastructural development PTI has recorded in recent years.” As a center of excellence in petroleum training and manpower development, PTI has, under its current administration, seen remarkable transformation in terms of physical infrastructure, digital modernization, and student welfare programs. The Institute continues to attract local and international recognition for its cutting-edge research and high-impact training curriculum. While assuring stakeholders, parents, and the general public of its unwavering commitment to the safety and welfare of its students, the management reiterated its call for responsible journalism and urged media practitioners to verify facts before rushing to publication. “We remain focused on our mandate and will not be distracted by smear campaigns designed to derail our progress.”
