Senator Nwoko, Ibori 'll return to PDP after 2027 general elections - Bureau Chief ...Commends new DESTMA Board on rebranding plan, professionalism

Director General, Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has said that recent defections by the former member representing Ethiope Federal Constituency at the Green Chambers, Hon Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, and the Senator representing the good people of Delta North Senatorial District at the Red Chamber, Senator Ned Nwoko, will be short lived.

He posited that the duo of Senator Nwoko and Hon Ibori-Suenu have in their cells the DNA of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and that defecting from the party had automatically cut-off their political oxygen, assuring that the embattled lawmakers shall gasp for breath at the polls in 2027, should they succeed in flying the flag of their new found love, the All Progressives Congress, APC Delta.

Dr Oghenesivbe made the prediction when he received on courtesy visit, the new board members and management staff of Delta State Traffic Management Authority, DESTMA, led by its chairman, High Chief Peter Idion, saying that APC Delta social media politics goes to no issue, and that Delta remain the stronghold of PDP under the able leadership of the state governor, Dr (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori.

He commended the new board of DESTMA for plans in place to expand and upscale her operations from seven local governments as enshrined in the law establishing it, adding that the ideal thing is for the agency to effectively  cover the 25 local government areas as presently canvassed by the new board in line with the realistic reforms agenda of governor Oborevwori.

Dr Oghenesivbe, urged the agency to be holistic in the rebranding plan and process, to include upscaling professionalism, staff discipline and adequate supervision, so as to bring about the desired result envisaged by the governor and the government in line with the ongoing implementation of the MORE agenda, while describing the board Chairman and Director General, Chief Idion and Hon Okiemute, as men of impeccable character and proven dignity.

The Bureau Chief assured DESTMA board and management of the Bureau's result oriented partnership in the area of sensitization campaigns through multifaceted channels of communication and platforms, as well as planning and implementation of joint awareness creation campaigns across the three senatorial districts and motor parks, on the need for commercial drivers and those with right of way to obey traffic rules and abstain from drug abuse and use of Illicit Drugs.

Dr Oghenesivbe, used the occasion to, once again, congratulate governor Oborevwori on his new status as Governor of the Year, saying that the Award and recognition was well deserved, assuring that the best of the governor is yet to come, as can be seen from his strong determination to spread quality infrastructure and socioeconomic development across the 25 local government areas in the State.

"Let me use this occasion to again state categorically that our great party, PDP, remain the political landlord of Delta State, pockets of defections not withstanding.

"Delta is PDP stronghold politically, her supremacy over opposition parties in the state cannot be overemphasized.

"Ethiope Federal Constituency PDP Forum under the distinguished chairmanship of Senator (Dr) Ighoyota Amori, and Chief Sunday Onoriode, as Secretary General; recently met and assured our people that the seat vacated by Hon Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu shall be reclaimed through by-election, and we are urging the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, to fasttrack the process of by-election.

"The news of Senator Nwoko defection is everywhere on social media platforms. Elections are not won on social media platforms. PDP in Delta North is solid and the leaders are prepared to reclaim PDP seat at the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

"Come 2027, both Senator Nwoko and Hon Ibori-Suenu cannot survive at the polls should they manipulate their way to grab the ticket of their new found love, APC Delta.

"The good governance strides of governor Oborevwori will effortlessly give PDP and her candidates landslide victory in the forthcoming general elections in the state.Deltans will vote for mega flyovers, standard roads, youth and women empowerment, and so on and so forth. No APC Delta footprint in Delta State.

"Nwoko and Ibori have in their blood cells the DNA of PDP. Their political oxygen has been cut-off as a result of defection, and the duo shall gasp for political breath at the polls in 2027. They will willingly return to their first love, PDP,  after the forthcoming general elections.

"I thank the Chairman and management staff of DESTMA for this visit. Your rebranding plan is a welcome development. It should be all encompassing, and as a Bureau we are ready to partner with you, especially in the area of creating awareness for your multifaceted activities through state wide Sensitization campaigns," Oghenesivbe assured.

Earlier, the Chairman of DESTMA, High Chief Peter Idion, said their visit was to solicit partnership with the Stat Bureau for Orientation and Communications under the leadership of Dr Oghenesivbe.

He disclosed that the new board of DESTMA is poised to expanding the Operations of the Agency from the present 7 LGAs to 25, work with the office of the State Attorney-General to forward a Bill to the State House of Assembly for the amendment of the Law establishing the state traffic management agency.

In the vein, the Director General of DESTMA, Hon Benjamin Okiemute, said the agency's new recruitment policy will prioritize University and Polytechnic graduates to constitute 70% of her workforce, while 30% for young School Certificate Holders, emphasizing the need for quality service delivery through result oriented traffic management strategies.

"We are turning around the fortune of DESTMA. What we met on ground is nothing to write home about. This board is determined to do things differently. Staff welfare and training is in the front burner. There is no room for mediocrity, going forward.

"The State Bureau for Orientation and Communications has become a super agency under the leadership of Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe. We want to partner with you in our rebranding plan. You have great ideas that would help convey our messages to the target audiences.

"His Excellency, the Governor, Dr (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori, has mandated us to step up operations and rebrand the agency. We can't do this alone, we need to partner your Bureau and other sister agencies to achieve desired goals.

"In the near future we shall decorate Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe as a 'Mayor' of DESTMA in recognition of your super media management skills, leadership qualities and dedication to duty. You are a role model to so many youths in the state and beyond.

"The State Orientation and Communications Bureau is unarguably an active agency for Sensitization campaigns, effective dissemination of government policies, programmes and achievements of this administration ," Okiemute said

PTI Defends Its Reputation Against Misleading Sahara Media Report By Wilson Macaulay Effurun, Delta State July 12 2025 The Management of the prestigious Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, has vehemently refuted a sensational and malicious report published by Sahara Reporters on July 10, 2025, which alleged that students of the foremost oil and gas institution study in “flooded classrooms and snake-infested hostels” despite a ₦39 billion budget. Describing the publication as “baseless, mischievous, and an orchestrated attempt to malign the integrity of the institution,” PTI Management said the report is not only factually inaccurate but also a deliberate attack on the hard-earned reputation and progress of the institution under its current leadership. In a strongly worded statement issued on Friday, the management declared: > “There are absolutely no flooded classrooms or snake-infested hostels within the Institute. These claims are complete fabrications devoid of any evidence or truth.” Management further challenged Sahara Reporters to produce any verifiable photographic or video proof to substantiate its claims. > “If such conditions exist as alleged, Sahara Reporters should have no difficulty presenting concrete evidence. Until then, their report remains a reckless misrepresentation aimed at misleading the public.” PTI clarified that all its lecture halls, laboratories, workshops, and hostels are structurally sound, properly ventilated, electrically powered, and routinely maintained. The Institute prides itself on maintaining a safe and conducive academic environment for learning, innovation, and professional development in the oil and gas sector. The management in clear terms described the publication as the work of “unscrupulous elements seeking to sow discord and cast aspersions on the steady infrastructural development PTI has recorded in recent years.” As a center of excellence in petroleum training and manpower development, PTI has, under its current administration, seen remarkable transformation in terms of physical infrastructure, digital modernization, and student welfare programs. The Institute continues to attract local and international recognition for its cutting-edge research and high-impact training curriculum. While assuring stakeholders, parents, and the general public of its unwavering commitment to the safety and welfare of its students, the management reiterated its call for responsible journalism and urged media practitioners to verify facts before rushing to publication. “We remain focused on our mandate and will not be distracted by smear campaigns designed to derail our progress.”
