The Urhobo Nation is mourning the death of Olorogun Oskar Ibru, with tributes pouring in from leaders and citizens alike. His passing, described as shocking and untimely, has left a deep void in Delta State and beyond.

Reacting to the loss, Hon. Comrade Francis Obule JP, Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Political Matters, said Oskar’s death is “a monumental blow to the Urhobo people and Nigeria at large.” He described the late Oskar as a dependable, illustrious son of Urhobo land whose humility and jovial spirit endeared him to many.

Obule recalled Oskar’s lively presence during the 2007 Governorship election that brought DR Emmanuel Uduaghan and the inauguration of the Chief Askia Ogieh-led board of DESOPADEC  noting his laughter, warmth,  humility , love , constant jokes, and  warm   affection which  shows that  Olorogun  Oskar Ibru was a good leader.

Your smile always brightened the room. We called you ‘Mechanic,’ and you wore that appellation with joy. Truly, life is vanity,” he said

He further praised Oskar’s cultural relevance, highlighting the honor bestowed on him  as the Otunba I of Yoruba Land, a testament to his bridge-building personality across ethnic lines. “Oskar’s legacy is one of love, unity, and service. May his soul find rest  in the  bosom of God Almighty,” Obule concluded.
