Okunland Must Think Long-Term: Olatunji Urges Patience Ahead of Kogi 2027

As political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections begin to gather momentum, a prominent philanthropist and All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart, Asiwaju Olatunji Olusoji, has cautioned the people of Okunland against repeating the mistakes of the past, urging them to embrace unity and strategic patience until 2031.

Speaking during an interaction with selected journalists in Lokoja on Sunday, Olusoji advised the Okun people to organize themselves into a cohesive and formidable political bloc capable of negotiating power effectively in the future, rather than engaging in divisive politics that could once again weaken their collective strength.

He appealed to Nigerians to remain patient and continue to support the reform agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, acknowledging that while the reforms may currently be causing hardship, prosperity would emerge in due course.

According to Olusoji, the agitation for power shift in Kogi State will continue to elude Okunland unless the people resolve to unite and speak with one voice. He recalled the 2023 governorship election, noting that while Kogi Central and Kogi East presented consensus candidates, the Okun people fielded multiple candidates across different parties, a development that worked against their interest.

A trained mechanical engineer, businessman, and philanthropist, Olusoji dismissed speculations that his long-standing generosity was driven by political ambition. He stressed that he has never contemplated running for political office, adding that his passion for giving stems from his upbringing and personal experiences with poverty.

He revealed that the Olusoji Olatunji Foundation, established in 2013, has consistently supported communities across Okunland through educational materials, welfare packages, and community-based interventions, particularly in Ayere communities of Ijumu Local Government Area.

Olusoji reiterated his loyalty to the APC and pledged his readiness to accept any assignment Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo may deem fit, provided it serves the interest of the people. He also urged youths to take their education seriously, describing it as a key to future opportunities.

On insecurity and national reforms, he maintained that the current policies were necessary and called for increased investment in modern, technology-driven security architecture across the country.

PTI Defends Its Reputation Against Misleading Sahara Media Report By Wilson Macaulay Effurun, Delta State July 12 2025 The Management of the prestigious Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, has vehemently refuted a sensational and malicious report published by Sahara Reporters on July 10, 2025, which alleged that students of the foremost oil and gas institution study in “flooded classrooms and snake-infested hostels” despite a ₦39 billion budget. Describing the publication as “baseless, mischievous, and an orchestrated attempt to malign the integrity of the institution,” PTI Management said the report is not only factually inaccurate but also a deliberate attack on the hard-earned reputation and progress of the institution under its current leadership. In a strongly worded statement issued on Friday, the management declared: > “There are absolutely no flooded classrooms or snake-infested hostels within the Institute. These claims are complete fabrications devoid of any evidence or truth.” Management further challenged Sahara Reporters to produce any verifiable photographic or video proof to substantiate its claims. > “If such conditions exist as alleged, Sahara Reporters should have no difficulty presenting concrete evidence. Until then, their report remains a reckless misrepresentation aimed at misleading the public.” PTI clarified that all its lecture halls, laboratories, workshops, and hostels are structurally sound, properly ventilated, electrically powered, and routinely maintained. The Institute prides itself on maintaining a safe and conducive academic environment for learning, innovation, and professional development in the oil and gas sector. The management in clear terms described the publication as the work of “unscrupulous elements seeking to sow discord and cast aspersions on the steady infrastructural development PTI has recorded in recent years.” As a center of excellence in petroleum training and manpower development, PTI has, under its current administration, seen remarkable transformation in terms of physical infrastructure, digital modernization, and student welfare programs.
