Member representing Warri South Constituency I in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Dr. Augustine Uroye, (JP)has declared that the Thursday February 26th visit of Nigeria’s First Lady, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to Warri Kingdom has ushered in what he described as “a new lease of life” into the historic ancient Warri kingdom.
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the grand civic reception held in honour of the First Lady, Hon. Uroye, who served on the planning committee for the event, said the atmosphere that greeted her arrival reflected renewed hope, unity, and purpose among the people. According to him, the visit has reawakened confidence in the federal government’s commitment to the Niger Delta region.
The erudite lawmaker stressed that beyond the colourful pageantry and cultural splendour that defined the reception, the visit carries profound political and economic implications. “This is more than a ceremonial visit,” he noted. “It represents a strengthening of bonds and a reaffirmation of strategic partnerships that will yield tangible benefits for our people.”
Hon. Uroye aka Use Your Brain emphasized that the synergy between Warri Kingdom, Delta State, and the Federal Government would now operate at an elevated tempo. He explained that the First Lady’s presence symbolized inclusion, recognition, and respect for the traditional institutions and the people of the oil-rich Niger Delta region.
According to him, the reception demonstrated an unmistakable spirit of unity cutting across political, ethnic, and social divides. He described the growing relationship as a “stronger bond of friendship and conviviality” that would inevitably usher in unquantifiable economic and political progress for Warri and its environs.
The Delta lawmaker further noted that such high-profile engagements create opportunities for increased federal visibility and accelerated development interventions. He expressed optimism that critical sectors such as infrastructure, youth empowerment, women development, and social investment programmes would receive renewed attention.
Hon. Uroye commended the Delta State Government and the leadership of Warri Kingdom for the meticulous planning and warm hospitality extended to the First Lady. He said the seamless coordination of the event reflected the organizational strength and cultural pride of the people.
Concluding, the legislator reiterated that the visit marks the beginning of a new chapter in Warri’s developmental trajectory. “This is a defining moment,” he said. “The visit has brought a new lease of life to Warri Kingdom and Delta State. We are confident that greater economic opportunities, stronger political collaboration, and sustained peace will follow in its wake.”
