WARRI

The ancient drums of the Warri Kingdom are set to echo across creeks and coastlines as dignitaries, political leaders, royal fathers, women groups, youth organisations and security agencies mobilise for what promises to be a grand and symbolic homecoming. At the centre of this historic convergence is Hon. Clement Ofovwi, popularly known as General Oloye, Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Security Matters, who has thrown his weight fully behind the Delta State Government in welcoming Nigeria’s First Lady, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to her ancestral roots in Warri.

The visit of the First Lady, wife of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is being described by stakeholders as more than ceremonial. It is a deeply symbolic return to heritage — a reconnection of national leadership with ancestral identity within the revered Warri Kingdom.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s ancestral linkage to Warri has stirred palpable excitement across Delta State. For many indigenes, her visit represents cultural pride, renewed federal presence, and an affirmation of historical bonds between the Niger Delta and the centre.

Hon. Clement Ofovwi, a respected grassroots mobilizer and security strategist, described the visit as “a moment of unity, honour and strategic importance to Delta State and the Warri Kingdom in particular.”

Speaking to journalists in Warri, General Oloye emphasized that security architecture has been strengthened to ensure a seamless and hitch-free reception.

“This is not just a visit; it is a historic reconnection with ancestral roots. As a government, under the leadership of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, we are committed to ensuring that Her Excellency’s homecoming is peaceful, secure and befitting of her status,” Ofovwi stated.

Under the directive of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, various ministries, security agencies, cultural troupes and community leaders have intensified preparations. Warri metropolis is already wearing a new look, with banners, cultural insignia and royal colours adorning major routes.

Security coordination meetings involving conventional security agencies, community vigilantes and youth stakeholders have been held to guarantee crowd control, traffic management and overall safety.

As Special Assistant on Security Matters, General Oloye has been instrumental in liaising with both formal and informal security networks across Warri South, Warri North and Warri South-West to ensure maximum coverage and intelligence synergy.

Observers say his involvement reflects the government’s recognition of the importance of blending grassroots security structures with official apparatus during high-profile visits.

Royal Anticipation

The Palace of the Olu of Warri is expected to play a central role in the ceremonial reception, underscoring the cultural depth of the visit. Traditional chiefs, titled men and women, as well as cultural custodians, are preparing elaborate displays of Itsekiri heritage.

Community leaders have described the event as “a celebration of identity, unity and national integration.”

Hon. Ofovwi reiterated that the reception would not only highlight cultural splendour but also project Delta State as a peaceful and investment-friendly environment.

A Political and Cultural Milestone

Political analysts note that the visit will  strengthen  the relationship between Delta State and the Federal Government, especially within the evolving dynamics of national politics.

For General Oloye, he emphased  the unity ,pride and honor of the event.

“We are welcoming our daughter home. This is beyond politics. It is about honouring ancestry, strengthening bonds and showcasing the hospitality of the Niger Delta,” he affirmed.

Stakeholders across party lines, youth groups, women associations, ex-militant leaders and civil society organisations have pledged cooperation to ensure the event reflects the collective dignity of the Warri people.

Warri on the National Stage

As anticipation builds, hotels report increased bookings, cultural troupes rehearse tirelessly, and market women speak excitedly of the economic boost the visit is expected to generate.

Indeed, Warri is set to take centre stage once again — not as a theatre of agitation, but as a beacon of heritage, harmony and hospitality.

With Hon. Clement Ofovwi, aka General Oloye, standing firmly alongside the Delta State Government, the message is clear: the First Lady’s ancestral homecoming will be grand, secure and unforgettable.

Warri waits — adorned in pride, united in purpose, and ready to welcome its distinguished daughter.
