Chief Bobo Calls on President Tinubu, National Assembly to Support Tantita Security Services

Populist High Chief Wellington Bobo, the Oroupawei of the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Assembly of Nigeria to sustain their support for Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited by ensuring the continuation and possible re-award of the pipeline surveillance contract currently being executed by the company.

The respected Niger Delta elder statesman made the call while commending the outstanding performance of Tantita under the leadership of Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo. According to High Chief Bobo, the company has demonstrated uncommon commitment and efficiency in safeguarding Nigeria’s critical oil and gas infrastructure across the Niger Delta, a development he said has contributed immensely to national economic recovery.

He wondered aloud why some individuals and groups would attempt to undermine an initiative that has brought measurable progress to the country’s oil sector. In his words, “Who are those trying to bewitch Nigeria who do not want to see good things happening in our country? It is difficult to understand why anyone would suggest discarding the good efforts of Tompolo and Tantita after the visible results they have delivered.”

High Chief Bobo therefore outlined several compelling reasons why President Tinubu and the National Assembly should consider retaining Tantita Security Services for the continuation and re-award of the pipeline surveillance contract.

First, Tantita has significantly reduced crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta. Through strategic intelligence gathering and community-based surveillance, the company has helped secure oil pipelines that were previously vulnerable to sabotage and illegal bunkering.

Second, the engagement of Tantita has improved Nigeria’s crude oil production levels and national revenue. By protecting vital oil installations, the company has contributed to stabilizing the nation’s petroleum sector, which remains the backbone of the country’s economy.

Third, the surveillance operations have created thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities for youths in oil-producing communities. This has helped reduce restiveness, militancy, and criminal activities in the region while promoting peace and social stability.

Fourth, Tantita’s operations have strengthened collaboration between host communities, security agencies, and the Federal Government. The trust built through this partnership has enabled faster intelligence sharing and more effective response to threats against oil infrastructure.

Fifth, the company possesses deep local knowledge of the terrain and enjoys the confidence of many stakeholders in the Niger Delta. This unique advantage has made its operations more efficient compared to previous security arrangements that lacked grassroots engagement.

High Chief Bobo stressed that abandoning a successful security initiative would be counterproductive and could reverse the gains already recorded in the fight against oil theft. He therefore urged the Federal Government and lawmakers to place national interest above politics and support the continued engagement of Tantita Security Services for the protection of Nigeria’s strategic assets.

He there for called on all relevant  stakeholders, lovers of the Niger Delta, Nigeria to rally support to this visible course of national service and forget about witch hunting of individuals to the detriment of our dear country .

He also seized the opportunity to commend Chief DR Dennis Otuaro, the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, for what he described as the impressive work he has been doing since assuming office. According to him, Dr. Otuaro’s leadership has brought renewed hope and stability to the programme and has further strengthened peace-building efforts across the Niger Delta region.
