The election of Chief Solomon Areyenka as the new Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has continued to attract glowing commendations, with Hon. Dr. Hope George, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Political Matters, describing his emergence as “a blessing to the party” and a defining moment for progressive politics in the state.

Speaking with newsmen in Asaba shortly after the party’s leadership announcement, Dr. Hope George expressed profound joy over Areyenka’s emergence, noting that the new APC chairman is a tested politician with verifiable track records of loyalty, discipline, and grassroots mobilization. According to him, the party could not have made a better choice at this critical time in its evolution in Delta State.

“Chief Solomon Areyenka is a blessing to the party. He is tested and trusted. He has paid his dues in the political space and has consistently demonstrated uncommon commitment to party growth and unity. I am genuinely happy for him,” Dr. Hope George stated, adding that the widespread jubilation across the state reflects the confidence party faithful repose in the new chairman.

He emphasized that the atmosphere of celebration witnessed across Delta State underscores the acceptability and popularity of Chief Areyenka among stakeholders and party members. “As you can see, the entire state is celebrating him. That tells you he is not just a leader imposed on the people but one embraced by the people,” he added.

Dr. Hope George also used the opportunity to commend the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori JP, for what he described as his statesmanlike disposition in ensuring a level playing ground for all political actors. He noted that the Governor’s inclusive leadership style continues to deepen democratic values and political stability in the state.

“I must commend His Excellency for providing a level playing ground for all. That is the hallmark of true leadership — creating space for fair competition and healthy political engagement,” he said, stressing that such maturity in governance strengthens institutions and promotes unity beyond party lines.

Political observers believe that Chief Solomon Areyenka’s wealth of experience in party administration and grassroots politics positions him strategically to consolidate the APC’s structure in Delta State ahead of future electoral contests. His emergence is widely seen as a move capable of galvanizing the rank and file, fostering reconciliation where necessary, and expanding the party’s support base.

Congratulating the newly inaugurated Executive Committee members, Dr. Hope George urged them to rally behind their chairman and work collectively to reposition the party for greater success. He expressed optimism that under Chief Areyenka’s leadership, the Delta APC would witness renewed vigor, strengthened internal cohesion, and strategic growth across the three senatorial districts.

As celebrations continue among party faithful, many stakeholders agree with Dr. Hope George’s assertion that the emergence of Chief Solomon Areyenka marks a fresh chapter in Delta APC’s political journey — one anchored on tested leadership, trust, and a shared commitment to progressive ideals.

PTI Defends Its Reputation Against Misleading Sahara Media Report By Wilson Macaulay Effurun, Delta State July 12 2025 The Management of the prestigious Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, has vehemently refuted a sensational and malicious report published by Sahara Reporters on July 10, 2025, which alleged that students of the foremost oil and gas institution study in “flooded classrooms and snake-infested hostels” despite a ₦39 billion budget. Describing the publication as “baseless, mischievous, and an orchestrated attempt to malign the integrity of the institution,” PTI Management said the report is not only factually inaccurate but also a deliberate attack on the hard-earned reputation and progress of the institution under its current leadership. In a strongly worded statement issued on Friday, the management declared: > “There are absolutely no flooded classrooms or snake-infested hostels within the Institute. These claims are complete fabrications devoid of any evidence or truth.” Management further challenged Sahara Reporters to produce any verifiable photographic or video proof to substantiate its claims. > “If such conditions exist as alleged, Sahara Reporters should have no difficulty presenting concrete evidence. Until then, their report remains a reckless misrepresentation aimed at misleading the public.” PTI clarified that all its lecture halls, laboratories, workshops, and hostels are structurally sound, properly ventilated, electrically powered, and routinely maintained. The Institute prides itself on maintaining a safe and conducive academic environment for learning, innovation, and professional development in the oil and gas sector. The management in clear terms described the publication as the work of “unscrupulous elements seeking to sow discord and cast aspersions on the steady infrastructural development PTI has recorded in recent years.” As a center of excellence in petroleum training and manpower development, PTI has, under its current administration, seen remarkable transformation in terms of physical infrastructure, digital modernization, and student welfare programs. The Institute continues to attract local and international recognition for its cutting-edge research and high-impact training curriculum. While assuring stakeholders, parents, and the general public of its unwavering commitment to the safety and welfare of its students, the management reiterated its call for responsible journalism and urged media practitioners to verify facts before rushing to publication. “We remain focused on our mandate and will not be distracted by smear campaigns designed to derail our progress.”
