FUPRE Names Prof. Agbalagba as New Vice Chancellor

  By Wilson Macaulay The Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), Delta State, has appointed Prof. Ezekiel Oghenenyerhovwo Agbalagba as its new Vice Chancellor. Engr. Bello Gachi Issa, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, announced the appointment during a press briefing at the university’s Conference Hall. He revealed that 39 candidates applied for the position, but Prof. Agbalagba emerged as the most outstanding candidate after a rigorous selection process. The Governing Council Chair emphasized that Prof. Agbalagba’s appointment followed due diligence and adherence to due process. He commended the professor’s academic experience, leadership qualities, and dedication to excellence, which made him the preferred choice for the role. Outgoing Vice Chancellor, Engr.   * Prominent Niger Delta environmental activist and national coordinator of a foremost NGO, the Center for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ), Chief Comrade Sheriff Mulade, has called on Delta State Governor, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to take significant steps to honour the legacy of the revered Niger Delta Leader and elder statesman, Chief (Dr.) Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, who passed on Monday, 17th February, 2025. Mulade, who led various civil society organizations across the Niger Delta region, made this appeal during a condolence visit to Clark's country home in Kiagbodo, Burutu Local Government Area on Monday, March 3rd 2025. The community leaders were also in attendance, and they gathered to pay their respects to the late elder statesman. FUPRE Set To Reconize Pioneers in Business, Engineering at 4th Convocation Ceremony

Group Petitions Kogi Govt, DSS, Police over undue delay in issuing appointment letter to traditional ruler

A group under the auspices of  representatives of the Kabba Community, Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area which comprises family heads in Kogi State have petitioned the State Government, Department of State Services and the Nigerian Police force over the undue delay in the issuance of letter of appointment to one Chief Julius Arokoyo as Obadofin of Owe land. In a petition dated 28th February 2025 which was signed by 14 family heads, Traditional Rulers and four screening committee members accused the Obaro of Kabba , Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi, of allegedly attempting to impose a candidate of his choice on the community, which  is a clear violation of it established customs and traditions.
